Newly promoted St Johnston endured another difficult evening in the NW Women's Premiership as they suffered a heavy defeat to Bonds Glen. Leah Thompson led the charge with a superb 62 from just 37 balls, striking five fours and three sixes, while Stephanie Wilkinson added 22. St Johnston's task was made even harder by conceding 55 extras, including 28 no-balls and 26 wides. In reply, they were dismissed for just 36, with Leah Roulston top-scoring with 15. Bready 91-4 (14.5 0vers; Jodie Spence 21, Lucy McGranaghan 14*, Sophie Hamilton 11*; Jenni Jackson 2-24)
Bready maintained their perfect start to the season and stayed on course to defend their NW Women's Premiership title with a six-wicket win over Eglinton. In a low-scoring contest, Bready's disciplined bowling attack never allowed Eglinton to gain momentum. Jodie Spence led the way with 3-17, while Ella Wasson, Millie Spence, Tiara Mitchell and Sophie Hamilton each claimed a wicket as Eglinton were restricted to 88-8. The home side's total was boosted by 32 extras, including 26 wides and three no-balls. Jenni Jackson struck twice early in the chase to give Eglinton hope, but Bready remained composed. Jodie Spence made 21 before Lucy McGranaghan (14*) and Sophie Hamilton (11*) guided the leaders to victory with more than five overs to spare.

Action from the game (Carwyn Guy)
Coleraine climbed to second place in the table with a convincing 60-run victory over Fox Lodge. Skipper Kia McCartney led from the front with a hard-hitting 32 that included four fours and a six before becoming one of four wickets for Fox Lodge captain Mollie Devine. The Bannsiders were in trouble at 80-7, but an unbroken eighth-wicket stand of 57 between Josie Dixon (25*) and Emma Armour (16*) lifted them to 137-7. Fox Lodge's reply suffered an immediate setback as Hannah Skinner struck twice in the opening over on her way to figures of 3-10. Devine and Laura Allen added 32 in resistance, but Coleraine's bowlers remained in control. The defeat continues a difficult transitional season for Fox Lodge following the loss of many key players from their successful side of recent years.

Record breaker Willie McClintock after his 339 (Bonds Glen CC)
William McClintock and Bonds Glen rewrote the record books on Sunday as the former Irish international made the highest individual score in Ireland. McClintock hit 37 sixes and 21 fours on his way to a remarkable 339 against Letterkenny in the North West Championship - breaking the record of 313 by Captain William Oates of the Munster Fusiliers back in 1895! Statisticians were scouring the archives as McClintock passed the scores set locally by EDR Shearer (233), Decker Curry (260), Roy Silva (295), and finally Oates 131 years previously. Bonds Glen's total of 507 for 8 is also a new Irish record, surpassing the 499 previously made by Leinster. Needless to say the Bee Gees went on to win by 343 runs with Dharm Singh taking five wickets.

Glendermott 151-4 (24.4 overs; Blayde Capell 78*, Craig Averill 48; Robbie Millar 3-32)

Capell struck an unbeaten 78 from 62 balls, including eight fours and three sixes, while Averill made 48 with eight boundaries. Ballyspallen surged to the top of the NW Championship standings, at least temporarily, with a crushing nine-wicket victory over Letterkenny. The home side dominated from the outset after bowling Letterkenny out for just 57 in 24.3 overs. Michael O'Brien was the chief destroyer, producing a devastating spell of 5-8, while Dylan McElhinney (2-5) and Pushpender Singh (2-23) provided excellent support. Only Ateeq ur Rehman offered any meaningful resistance for Letterkenny, battling to 28 and striking two sixes as wickets tumbled regularly around him. The chase was completed in emphatic fashion despite an early setback when Hassan Shahid was bowled by Wasiq Riaz for just one. Pushpender Singh then took centre stage, blasting an unbeaten 38 from only 19 deliveries. His innings featured three sixes and three fours as he quickly removed any doubt about the outcome. John O'Brien provided solid support with 14 not out as Ballyspallen raced to 62-1 in just 5.4 overs, securing maximum points from a one-sided contest.

After slipping to 39-3 thanks to early strikes from Usman Azhar and Ryan Barr, they recovered through a crucial 92-run fourth-wicket stand between Keenan Viera and Alan Colhoun. Viera was outstanding, hammering a run-a-ball 124 featuring 20 fours and five sixes. Late acceleration came from Mark Gordon, whose 22-ball 33 included three fours and three sixes, while Jason Wallace smashed 34 from 18 balls and Richard McMorris added 26 from 14 deliveries as Killyclooney reached 283. Burndennett's reply was respectable, with Corey Roulston making 38, but they were never seriously in contention. Viera completed an excellent all-round display with 3-33 as Killyclooney maintained their strong start despite winter departures.
Ardmore lost to Bonds Glen by 76 runs.
The Bleachgreen, 13 June.
Bonds Glen 245-4 (28 overs; William McClintock 73, Danie Rossouw 72, Sam Haslett 61, Heinrich Roberts 24*; Muhammad Edrees 2-59)

Despite losing Dharm Singh in the opening over, the Bee Gees recovered through a second-wicket partnership of 138 between Danie Rossouw and Sam Haslett. Rossouw struck 72 from 55 balls, including six fours and three sixes, while Haslett made 61. The contest was effectively settled by a blistering fourth-wicket stand of 97 in just 34 balls. William McClintock smashed 73 from only 25 deliveries, launching 10 sixes and three fours, while Heinrich Roberts added an unbeaten 24. Ardmore's reply never seriously threatened the target despite contributions from Vimal Dwivedi (40) and Kasun Aberaytne (37), finishing on 169-6.

Letterkenny
Bonds Glen
It was a complete wash-out at Drummond, so the sides will have to do it all again in the coming weeks.
Ballyspallen v Burndennett - match abandoned.
Ballyspallen, 6 June.
Burndennett 179-8 (41 overs; Usman Azhar 83, Mark Doherty 32, Ben Logue 20; Graham Kennedy 5-24)
Ballyspallen
Graham Kennedy (Ballyspallen CC)
Frustration was the overwhelming feeling at Ballyspallen as rain forced the abandonment of the NW Championship clash with Burndennett after the first innings had been completed. Burndennett posted a competitive 179 for 8 from their 41 overs, thanks largely to an excellent innings from Usman Azhar. The all-rounder struck 83, including six fours and six sixes, and shared a crucial fifth-wicket partnership of 90 with Ben Logue, who contributed 20. Earlier, opener Mark Doherty had laid a solid foundation with 32. Ballyspallen's bowling effort was led superbly by left-arm spinner Graham Kennedy, who returned outstanding figures of 5 for 24 to keep the visitors in check. However, with rain arriving during the interval, the second innings never got underway. Both sides will now have to do it all again in a replay after the weather had the final say.
Glendermott beat Ardmore by 4 wickets (DLS).

Alex Boyd took five wickets. (CricketEurope)
Glendermott moved to the top of the NW Championship table after a hard-fought four-wicket DLS victory over Ardmore at The Rectory. The visitors were in trouble early on as teenage paceman Alex Boyd ripped through the top order, reducing Ardmore to 22 for 4. Among the casualties was Sri Lankan professional Kasun Aberaytne, who endured a three-ball duck as Boyd finished with impressive figures of 5-21. Ardmore recovered admirably thanks to contributions throughout the middle order. Captain Mark Chambers led the way with a composed 42, striking five fours and a six, while debutant Adam Chester impressed with a brisk 33 that included four boundaries and two maximums. Sadiq Safi added 26 as the visitors battled their way to 155 all out in 36.2 overs. Ben Mills provided excellent support for Boyd with 2-31. Set a revised target of 133 from 34 overs, Glendermott made a positive start before Ardmore fought back through Conor Brolly. The seamer removed in-form openers Blayde Capell and Ben Mills to put the brakes on the chase and continued his fine spell by dismissing Craig Averill and Alan Johnson. Averill's 44 had put the hosts in a strong position, but Brolly's 4-34 ensured there would be no easy route to victory. With the match finely balanced, Trevor Britton held his nerve superbly, finishing unbeaten on 24 to guide Glendermott over the line and secure a valuable win that sends them top of the table.

Winners are grinners. Timothy Dougherty and Jason Wallace. (Killyclooney CC)
Killyclooney climbed to second place in the NW Championship after edging out Eglinton by one wicket in a dramatic DLS encounter at Killyclooney. In a match reduced to 35 overs per side, Eglinton were dismissed for 105 in 23.3 overs despite a promising start. Dunith Jayathunga top-scored with 34, including four fours and a six, helping his side reach 83 for 4. However, his dismissal triggered a collapse as Eglinton lost their final six wickets for just 22 runs. Jason Wallace was the chief destroyer with 4-23, while Timothy Dougherty claimed 3-33. Set a revised target of 88 from 22 overs, Killyclooney's chase got off to a disastrous start. Kyle Moore and Ian Young tore through the top order, reducing the hosts to 7 for 4, with Keenan Viera falling first ball. Dougherty counterattacked superbly, striking 40 from the middle order and sharing a vital 47-run stand with Cody Mehaffey. Eglinton fought back through Andy Millar and Robbie Millar, and when Killyclooney slipped to 77 for 9 the visitors appeared favourites. However, Derek Lynch and Wallace held their nerve, with Wallace striking two crucial boundaries to secure a thrilling one-wicket victory.

Drummond, 23 May.
Letterkenny 86 (29.4 overs; Muhamad Khalid 31; Conor King 3-18, Bobby Brolly 3-30, Matt Cuffe 2-4)
Ardmore 88-4 (19.1 overs; Kasun Aberaytne 46*, Aneesh Anilkumar 23)
Ardmore's spinning trio (Dermot Ward)
Ardmore got their Championship season up and running with a comfortable six-wicket victory over Letterkenny thanks to an impressive bowling performance from their young spin attack. The Bleachgreen side’s trio of Conor King, Bobby Brolly and Matt Cuffe did the bulk of the damage as Letterkenny were bowled out for just 86 in 29.4 overs. The spinners combined for eight wickets and never allowed the visitors to build any sustained momentum. King led the way with figures of 3-18, while Brolly claimed 3-30 in another tidy spell. Matt Cuffe proved particularly effective, taking 2-4 as Ardmore tightened their grip on the contest. Muhammad Khalid was comfortably the standout batter for Letterkenny with 31, showing resistance while wickets fell steadily around him. However, no other batter could make a significant contribution as the innings struggled throughout. To their credit, Letterkenny battled bravely in the field, but their modest total always looked unlikely to be enough. Ardmore’s chase was guided confidently by Kasun Aberaytne, who continued his excellent start to the season with a composed run-a-ball 46 not out. Aneesh Anilkumar provided solid support with 23 as the home side eased to 88 for 4 in 19.1 overs. The victory gives Ardmore a timely boost in confidence ahead of Sunday’s National Cup clash against Limerick, with their young bowling attack in particularly encouraging form.
Bonds Glen beat Eglinton by 204 runs.
Bonds Glen, 23 May.
Bonds Glen 423-8 (50 overs; Danie Rossouw 193, William McClintock 137, Heinrich Roberts 22, Adam Thompson 20; Kyle Moore 2-69)

Danie Rossouw hit 14 fours and sixes in his 193 to take his season tally past 500 runs. (Bonds Glen CC)
Bonds Glen’s explosive batting line-up produced another astonishing display as they piled up the highest total of the day before defeating Eglinton by 204 runs in a Championship run-fest. The home side hammered 423 for 8 from their 50 overs, with Danie Rossouw continuing his sensational form by blasting a magnificent 193 from just 137 balls. The South African made it back-to-back Championship centuries and came agonisingly close to a double hundred in an innings packed with boundaries and power hitting. Eglinton initially made the perfect start when Kyle Moore struck twice early against his former club, but the contest was transformed by a devastating third-wicket stand worth 224 between Rossouw and William McClintock. McClintock was equally destructive, smashing 137 from only 94 deliveries with 10 fours and an incredible 13 sixes as the pair tore the Eglinton attack apart. Heinrich Roberts chipped in with 22, while Adam Thompson’s rapid 20 from just nine balls, including two sixes, lifted Bonds Glen beyond the 400 mark. Facing a daunting target, Eglinton began brightly through their in-form opening pair. Andy Millar made 42 and Andy Lucas 35 as they shared a partnership of 77 to briefly raise hopes of a competitive chase. However, despite useful contributions from Jamie Millar (30), Chris Pierce (25) and professional Dunith Jayathunga (20), the innings gradually lost momentum. Sam Kincaid claimed 3-25, while Roberts completed an excellent all-round performance with 3-75. Sam Haslett and Dharm Singh both took two wickets as Eglinton were bowled out for 219 in 37.3 overs. On current form, Bonds Glen’s top-order blitzkrieg batting will take some stopping, making them possibly title favourites.
Killyclooney lost to Ballyspallen by 7 wickets.
Killyclooney, 23 May.
Killyclooney 101 (37.2 overs; Alfie Moan 18, Keenan Viera 18' Graham Kennedy 4-15, Stuart Kennedy 3-25, Raveen Yasas 2-24)
Ballyspallen 107-3 (17 overs; Hassan Shahid 59*, Graham Kennedy 31*; Timmy Dougherty 2-55)
Hassan Shahid scored unbeaten 59 (Ballyspallen CC)
Ballyspallen underlined their title credentials with a convincing seven-wicket victory over Killyclooney after an impressive all-round display. The foundation for the win was laid by an excellent bowling performance that saw the Tyrone side skittled for just 101 in 37.2 overs. The Kennedy brothers were the chief destroyers, combining for seven wickets between them as Ballyspallen kept tight control throughout the innings. Graham Kennedy produced the standout figures with 4-15, while Stuart Kennedy claimed 3-25 in an equally disciplined spell. Overseas professional Raveen Yasas chipped in with 2-24 as Killyclooney struggled to build any momentum. Alfie Moan and Keenan Viera top-scored with 18 apiece, but no batter was able to go on and make a significant contribution. Ballyspallen’s reply suffered a few early setbacks with Pushpender Singh, Jake O’Brien and Yasas all departing cheaply. Timmy Dougherty briefly gave Killyclooney hope with two wickets, but the chase was never seriously in danger. Hassan Shahid ensured there would be no further alarms with a superb unbeaten 59 from just 49 balls. The aggressive knock included nine fours and two sixes as he dominated the scoring. He shared an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 62 with left-hander Graham Kennedy, who followed up his fine bowling display with an assured 31 not out, striking seven boundaries and punishing anything loose. Ballyspallen reached 107 for 3 in only 17 overs to complete another impressive victory.

Burndennett 94 (20 overs; Usman Azhar 23*, Mark Doherty 22; Trevor Britton 4-14, Ben Mills 2-25, Alan Johnson 2-28)
Craig Averill scored a century (Claire Montgomery)
Glendermott returned to the top of the Championship table after a crushing 242-run victory over Burndennett at The Rectory, although they have played a game more than their closest rivals. The home side produced a batting masterclass to pile up 336 for 6 from their 50 overs, with the tone set in explosive fashion by openers Blayde Capell and Ben Mills. The pair raced to 72 in just five overs, putting the Burndennett attack immediately under pressure. Capell blasted 49 from only 32 deliveries, striking eight fours and a six, while Mills hammered 32 from 15 balls with six boundaries and a maximum. Burndennett fought back well through Mo Saghir and Usman Azhar, reducing Glendermott to 137 for 5 and briefly giving the visitors hope. However, the match was effectively settled by a magnificent fifth-wicket partnership between Craig Averill and skipper Trevor Britton. Left-hander Averill produced one of the innings of the season, smashing 149 with 14 fours and nine sixes in a dominant display of power hitting. Britton played the perfect supporting role, finishing unbeaten on 52 as the pair added 199 runs together to take the game away from Burndennett. The reply never threatened to challenge such a daunting target. Burndennett were skittled for just 94 in 20 overs, with only Usman Azhar (23 not out) and Mark Doherty (22) offering resistance. Britton completed an outstanding all-round performance with 4-14, while Ben Mills claimed 2-25 and Alan Johnson 2-28 as Glendermott sealed an emphatic win.

Killyclooney 83-5 (9.4 overs; Mark Gordon 22*, Alfie Moan 15*; Craig Averill 2-15) (Target 82 in 10 overs)
Killyclooney made it two wins from two with an impressive five-wicket victory over fancied Glendermott in another rain-affected contest. Glendermott were rocked early as former Killyclooney player Blayde Cappell fell cheaply against his old club, while Ben Mills also departed without making an impact. That left the home side struggling before Alan Lynch and Craig Averill repaired the innings with an unbroken stand of 57. Lynch anchored the effort with a composed 36 not out, while Averill added an unbeaten 16 as Glendermott innimgs was closed on 67-2. Jason Wallace claimed 1-12.. Set a revised target of 82 in 10 overs, Killyclooney looked in major trouble at 44-5 in the sixth over with two wickets for Craig Averill. However, Mark Gordon and teenager Alfie Moan produced a stunning turnaround. With 30 required from the final three overs, Gordon launched two huge sixes in his unbeaten 22, while Moan also cleared the ropes during an excellent 18 not out as Killyclooney sealed victory with two balls remaining.

Andy Lucas and Andy Millar shared a century stand (Eglinton CC)
Eglinton secured their second maximum-point victory of the weekend to move to the top of the table after another weather-affected win, this time against Letterkenny. The home side were in control from the outset thanks to a blistering opening partnership between skipper Andy Lucas and Andy Millar. The pair added 106 in just 80 balls to take the game away from the visitors. Lucas led from the front with a fluent 62 from 49 deliveries, striking nine fours and a six, while Millar produced another superb knock, top-scoring with 81 from 69 balls that included 11 fours and a maximum. Even after the breakthrough, Eglinton maintained the momentum as Robbie Millar added an unbeaten 35 before heavy rain eventually halted proceedings with the hosts on 192-3 after 28 overs. Credit goes to Letterkenny for braving difficult conditions that at one stage appeared likely to end the match altogether. Revised calculations left them chasing a daunting DLS target of 234 from their 28 overs. While that was always beyond reach, the visitors showed good determination to bat out their overs and close on 145-7. Jack Martin taking four wickets with Eglinton comfortably sealing another valuable victory that puts them in prime position for an immediate return to the top flight.

Graham Kennedy (Ballyspallen CC)
Ballyspallen claimed a hard-fought 23-run victory over Glendermott after defending a revised DLS target in a rain-affected encounter. The home side posted 191-9 from their 45 overs, built around a vital third-wicket partnership of 63 between Hassan Shahid and Raveen Yasas. Shahid top-scored with 43, while Yasas struck 42 in an innings that also featured useful contributions from Pushpender Singh and Curtis McElwee. Glendermott’s attack was led superbly by Lewis Pearson, who claimed 4-31, while Alex Boyd picked up two wickets. Set a revised target of 171 from 34 overs, Glendermott made an encouraging start through Ben Mills and Craig Averill. Mills hammered 36 from 35 balls with six fours and a six, while Averill added 29 as the visitors looked well placed. However, left-arm spinner Graham Kennedy turned the contest with a miserly spell of 3-13 from seven overs, including the prize scalp of Blayde Cappell, strangling the middle order along with his brother Stephen (7-1-11-1) and slowing the scoring rate dramatically. Jake Montgomery battled for 34 from 67 deliveries, but Ballyspallen closed out victory comfortably in the closing overs.

Mary Bradley presents the Shaun Bradley Memorial Plate, competed annually by Eglinton and Ardmore. (CricketEurope)
Frequent showers may have interrupted proceedings, but there was no stopping Eglinton as they stormed to a nine-wicket DLS victory over Ardmore chasing a revised target of 111 in 22 overs. Ardmore were indebted to Sri Lankan overseas professional Kasun Aberaytne, who carried the batting almost single-handedly with a superb unbeaten 74 from 74 balls, striking 11 fours and a six. Wickets tumbled regularly around him with little resistance from the top order, as a string of single-figure scores left the innings in danger of collapse. Valuable late contributions of 13 apiece from Vivek Dwivedi and Mark Chambers at least pushed the total towards respectability in the rain-hit contest. Eglinton’s bowlers kept a firm grip throughout, with left-armer Kyle Moore claiming four wickets in an impressive spell, while leg-spinner Robbie Millar chipped in with two more. Any hopes of a dramatic defence quickly disappeared as Eglinton’s openers made light work of the chase. The only real threat came from the dark clouds overhead as skipper Andy Lucas blasted an unbeaten 68 from 49 deliveries, including seven fours and three sixes. Alongside Andy Millar’s fluent 28, the pair shared an unbroken opening stand of 104 to seal a comfortable maximum-points win.

Dane Rossouw scored 170 for the Bee Gees (Bonds Glen CC)
Bonds Glen produced a devastating batting display to overwhelm Burndennett by 213 runs in a one-sided encounter. The foundation was laid by a magnificent opening partnership of 157 between South African professional Dane Rossouw and Dharm Singh. Rossouw dominated the attack with a breathtaking 170 from just 107 balls, hammering 15 fours and nine sixes in a brutal exhibition of power hitting. Singh provided the perfect support act with an aggressive 80 from 75 deliveries that included seven fours and five maximums. The punishment continued late in the innings as William McClintock blasted a stunning 22-ball half-century featuring seven fours and three sixes, while Heinrich Roberts added a rapid 36 to propel Bonds Glen to a towering 381-7. Andy Barr and Rahmat Sahaq claimed two wickets apiece for Burndennett. The hosts reply started brightly with Marty Mehaffey striking a run-a-ball 36 in an opening stand of 50 alongside Corey Roulston. Derek Curry added 23, but young spinners Sam Haslett and Sam Kincaid shared five wickets as Bonds Glen sealed a comfortable DLS victory.

The four Glendermott players who scored half centuries (CricketEurope)
Glendermott began their centenary celebrations in style with an emphatic 301-run win over Letterkenny at the Rectory. With hindsight it perhaps wasn't the brightest love to insert the hosts after winning the toss. Ben Mills raced out of the traps with a 44-ball 58 (9 fours, 2 sixes), as he and Craig Averill added 98 for the opening wicket. The real fun began when Blayde Capell came to the middle, with the South African run machine launching the ball to all parts of the Waterside environs, clubbing 7 sixes and 7 fours in a 49 ball 89 as he and Averill added 133 for the second wicket. Averill look destined for a century on his return to Glendermott as and Jake Montgomery added 66. However he fell for 86 (8 fours, 3 sixes). Skipper Trevor Britton kept the rate going with a hard-hit unbeaten 51 from just 36 balls (5 fours, 3 sixes) as he added 70 with Alan Johnson (25) in a daunting total of 385 for 7. There were three wickets apiece for Rammohan Goud Sama and Muhammad Khalid. The chase never got going and the Donegal side were whittled out for just 84. The wickets were shared with JJ O'Brien taking three and two apiece for Adam Boyd, Lewis Pearson and Britton. On this showing, Glendermott's 100th could be one of their most memorable and successful. They will certainly take some stopping.
