St Johnston lost to Eglinton in bowl-out.
The Boathole, 7 June.
St Johnston
Eglinton
Eglinton beat St Johnston in a sudden-death bowl-out at the Boathole. Perhaps it was fitting that a player nicknamed 'Fish' was the hero for the villagers with Richard Wylie striking the stumps twice to seal Eglinton's place in Tuesday's draw. For St Johnston, Nathan Cole was their only player to strike, and the Donegal side will now participate in the Sammy Jeffrey Shield instead.

Winners are grinners. Timothy Dougherty and Jason Wallace. (Killyclooney CC)
Killyclooney climbed to second place in the NW Championship after edging out Eglinton by one wicket in a dramatic DLS encounter at Killyclooney. In a match reduced to 35 overs per side, Eglinton were dismissed for 105 in 23.3 overs despite a promising start. Dunith Jayathunga top-scored with 34, including four fours and a six, helping his side reach 83 for 4. However, his dismissal triggered a collapse as Eglinton lost their final six wickets for just 22 runs. Jason Wallace was the chief destroyer with 4-23, while Timothy Dougherty claimed 3-33. Set a revised target of 88 from 22 overs, Killyclooney's chase got off to a disastrous start. Kyle Moore and Ian Young tore through the top order, reducing the hosts to 7 for 4, with Keenan Viera falling first ball. Dougherty counterattacked superbly, striking 40 from the middle order and sharing a vital 47-run stand with Cody Mehaffey. Eglinton fought back through Andy Millar and Robbie Millar, and when Killyclooney slipped to 77 for 9 the visitors appeared favourites. However, Derek Lynch and Wallace held their nerve, with Wallace striking two crucial boundaries to secure a thrilling one-wicket victory.

Alex Boyd took five wickets. (CricketEurope)
Glendermott moved to the top of the NW Championship table after a hard-fought four-wicket DLS victory over Ardmore at The Rectory. The visitors were in trouble early on as teenage paceman Alex Boyd ripped through the top order, reducing Ardmore to 22 for 4. Among the casualties was Sri Lankan professional Kasun Aberaytne, who endured a three-ball duck as Boyd finished with impressive figures of 5-21. Ardmore recovered admirably thanks to contributions throughout the middle order. Captain Mark Chambers led the way with a composed 42, striking five fours and a six, while debutant Adam Chester impressed with a brisk 33 that included four boundaries and two maximums. Sadiq Safi added 26 as the visitors battled their way to 155 all out in 36.2 overs. Ben Mills provided excellent support for Boyd with 2-31. Set a revised target of 133 from 34 overs, Glendermott made a positive start before Ardmore fought back through Conor Brolly. The seamer removed in-form openers Blayde Capell and Ben Mills to put the brakes on the chase and continued his fine spell by dismissing Craig Averill and Alan Johnson. Averill's 44 had put the hosts in a strong position, but Brolly's 4-34 ensured there would be no easy route to victory. With the match finely balanced, Trevor Britton held his nerve superbly, finishing unbeaten on 24 to guide Glendermott over the line and secure a valuable win that sends them top of the table.

Frustration was the overwhelming feeling at Ballyspallen as rain forced the abandonment of the NW Championship clash with Burndennett after the first innings had been completed. Burndennett posted a competitive 179 for 8 from their 41 overs, thanks largely to an excellent innings from Usman Azhar. The all-rounder struck 83, including six fours and six sixes, and shared a crucial fifth-wicket partnership of 90 with Ben Logue, who contributed 20. Earlier, opener Mark Doherty had laid a solid foundation with 32. Ballyspallen's bowling effort was led superbly by left-arm spinner Graham Kennedy, who returned outstanding figures of 5 for 24 to keep the visitors in check. However, with rain arriving during the interval, the second innings never got underway. Both sides will now have to do it all again in a replay after the weather had the final say.

Jamie Millar scored a century (Sharon Millar)
A stunning century by Jamie Millar powered Eglinton to the top of the T20 Championship table after a dramatic 10-run DLS victory over Ballyspallen at Eglinton on Thursday evening. Eglinton piled up an imposing 200-3 from their 20 overs, with Millar producing a breathtaking unbeaten 114 from just 47 balls. His remarkable innings featured 11 sixes and seven fours as he tore into the Ballyspallen attack with clean and fearless hitting. After Andy Lucas had provided a solid platform with a brisk 31 from 29 deliveries, Millar took complete control alongside Sri Lankan professional Dunith Jayathunga. The pair added 133 in only 11 overs, with Jayathunga contributing an excellent 40 in a devastating partnership that shifted the game firmly in Eglinton’s favour. Michael O’Brien was the pick of the visitors’ bowlers with 2-16, while Graham Kennedy claimed 1-25 and managed to escape some of the punishment handed out by Millar. Set a revised DLS target of 180 in 18 overs after a rain interruption, Ballyspallen mounted a spirited chase led superbly by Hassan Shahid. The opener smashed an unbeaten 95 from 54 balls, including 10 fours and three sixes, to keep his side firmly in contention throughout. Stuart Kennedy added 32 and Pushpender Singh struck a lively 20 from 11 balls, but Eglinton held their nerve in the closing stages. Robbie Millar claimed two key wickets, including the dismissal of professional Raveen Yasas, as Ballyspallen finished on 169-4.

Killyclooney 123-3 (17.4 overs; C Mehaffey 53, T Dougherty 44*; P Murphy 2-17)
Killyclooney produced a composed all-round display to secure a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Burndennett. The hosts struggled to build momentum after being asked to bat first and were restricted to 122-8 from their 20 overs. Tim Dougherty starred with the ball, finishing with impressive figures of 3-14, while Keenan Vieira provided excellent support with 2-8 in a disciplined Killyclooney attack. The home side looked in real danger of posting an even lower total before a late counterattack from Rian McGettigan added some respectability to the innings. Batting in the lower order, McGettigan struck an unbeaten 29 from just 19 deliveries, hitting three fours and two sixes to lift Burndennett beyond the 120 mark. Killyclooney’s reply began shakily as Paul Murphy removed two early wickets to leave the visitors wobbling at 21-3. However, that proved to be the only real success for the hosts as Cody Mehaffey and Tim Dougherty combined in a match-winning unbroken fourth-wicket partnership of 102. Former Burndennett player Mehaffey led the recovery superbly with an unbeaten 53 from 43 balls, including four fours and four sixes. Dougherty capped an outstanding all-round performance with 44 not out from 37 deliveries, striking seven boundaries as Killyclooney eased home in the 18th over.

The innings exploded into life from the outset as openers Sadiq Safi and Edrees Kharotai smashed 63 runs in just four overs. Safi was particularly destructive, hammering an 18-ball 40 that included three fours and four sixes, while Kharotai blasted 26 from only 15 deliveries with three maximums. Although professional Kasun departed cheaply, Ardmore maintained the momentum through Vivek Sheoran, who top-scored with a superb 64 featuring seven fours and three sixes. Aneesh Anilkumar also made an important contribution with 30 as the Bleachgreen side finished strongly. Killyclooney never threatened the chase and were dismissed for 81 in 16.3 overs. Tim Dougherty provided the only real resistance with a quickfire 33 containing five fours and a six. Conor King and Derish Joseph both claimed three wickets to complete a convincing Ardmore victory.

Ballyspallen cruised to a seven-wicket victory over Letterkenny after chasing down 135 with more than five overs to spare. Letterkenny made a bright start thanks to an opening partnership of 63 in eight overs between Rammohan Goud and Neelansh Singh. Goud led the charge with an aggressive 49 from 38 balls, striking five fours and three sixes, while Singh added 24. However, Ballyspallen gradually tightened their grip through the spin duo of Graham Kennedy and Sri Lankan professional Raveen Yasas, while Hassan Shahid extracted impressive pace and bounce in a hostile spell. Three run-outs also halted Letterkenny’s momentum as they closed on 134-7. Shahid fell cheaply in reply, but Pushpender Singh provided early impetus with a brisk 22 that included two sixes. Ballyspallen were then guided home in commanding fashion by Kennedy and Yasas, who shared an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 65. Both finished unbeaten on 41 from 26 balls in a composed and clinical chase.

Andy Millar provided the platform with a fluent 45 from 33 balls, striking five fours and two sixes, before a devastating fourth-wicket stand between Jamie Millar and Ian Young took the game away from the visitors. The pair added 123 runs in just 11 overs, with Jamie Millar blasting an unbeaten 78 from only 40 deliveries, including three fours and six towering sixes. Young matched the aggression in a sparkling 33-ball 54 featuring three fours and four maximums as Eglinton closed on a formidable 210-5. Mo Saghir was the pick of the Burndennett attack with 3-44. Burndennett’s chase never threatened the target despite classy contributions from Mark Doherty (33) and Mark Snodgrass, whose 24 included three huge sixes over the scoreboard. Ben Mills, Alan Johnson and Trevor Britton (Claire Montgomery)
Glendermott powered into second place in the T20 Championship table with an emphatic 90-run victory over the North West Under-19s at Rectory after producing a ruthless display with both bat and ball. The home side made a flying start as openers Ben Mills and Blayde Capell tore into the bowling, adding 93 in just 45 balls. Mills blasted 52 from only 25 deliveries, smashing four fours and five sixes in a breathtaking assault, while Capell hammered 38 from 25 balls with three fours and three maximums. Just when Glendermott looked set for a total well beyond 200, Mark Robinson dragged the visitors back into contention by dismissing both openers during a wobble that saw four wickets fall for only 15 runs. However, Alan Johnson ensured the innings finished with another flourish. The aggressive former captain dominated an unbroken fifth-wicket stand of 84 in seven overs alongside Craig Averill, crashing five sixes and three fours in a superb 31-ball 56 not out. Averill provided excellent support with an unbeaten 21 as Glendermott closed on an imposing 192 for 4. The Under-19s began brightly in reply despite early wickets for Charlie Gault and Sam Haslett, thanks largely to Mo Hussain. He counter-attacked superbly, striking six fours and a six in a 30-ball 40 before falling to one of the moments of the match when Ben Mills produced a stunning overhead return catch off his own bowling. Hussain’s dismissal triggered a dramatic collapse as the visitors lost five wickets for just five runs. Home skipper Ted Britton ripped through the middle order, claiming a superb hat-trick in figures of 3 for 6. Charlie Downey battled gamely for 20, but Harry Boyd’s two wickets and one from JJ O’Brien wrapped up a dominant win ahead of Thursday’s top-of-the-table clash between leaders Bonds Glen and third-placed Eglinton.

There was no repeat of the previous day’s drama as rain brought the North West Championship T20 clash between Killyclooney and Glendermott to a premature end after just 10 overs at Killyclooney. Meeting again less than 24 hours after Killyclooney’s Championship victory, the home side made a lively start and reached 68 for 5 before the weather closed in.
