U19 Women Interpro
T20: NCU beat North West by 20 runs.
Campbell College, 1 July.
NCU 103-4 (20 overs; R Lowe 35, E Carville 27)
North West 83 (19.1 overs; N Moore 4-17, V Minford 2-9, L Andrews 2-17)
NCU U19 Girls edged a hard-fought interpro by 20 runs after squeezing North West out for 83 in reply to 103 for 4. Rebecca Lowe set the tone with a composed 35, sharing a vital 74-run opening stand with Emily Carville, who made 27, before Sophie Hamilton and Jessica Cooke halted NCU’s early charge. Georgia Wilson, Niamh Lowry, Lucy Andrews and Erin Bond added late runs to give the visitors something to defend. North West’s chase started badly when Emily Young went without scoring, and although Lucy Thompson and captain Millie Spence briefly steadied matters, wickets fell too regularly. Vanessa Minford removed Spence and Jessica Cooke in a miserly spell of 2 for 9, while Lucy Andrews also struck twice. The decisive burst came from Natalie Moore, who claimed 4 for 17, accounting for Jodie Spence, Mansi Bhavsar, Hannah Skinner and Rihanna Young.

NCU U19s powered to a 100-run DLS victory over hosts North West in their interpro clash after a strong all-round display. NCU recovered from 84 for 4 to post 222 for 6 in 45.4 overs, with skipper Adam Leckey leading the way with 53 before Elijah Harte’s unbeaten 59 gave the innings real substance. Lukas McKeown then added late impetus with 34 not out, while Sam Haslett and Lewis Campbell claimed two wickets apiece for North West. The hosts never found sustained momentum in reply despite Luke Marillier’s battling 42 and Charlie Gault’s 24. Early wickets left them 25 for 2, and once Marillier fell, the chase faded badly. Ben Walsh was the destroyer for NCU, taking 4 for 31, including three wickets as North West slipped from 106 for 5 to 106 for 7. Alex Ogle and Luka Bates claimed two apiece as North West were bowled out for 132.
