Glendermott powered into second place in the T20 Championship table with an emphatic 90-run victory over the North West Under-19s at Rectory after producing a ruthless display with both bat and ball. The home side made a flying start as openers Ben Mills and Blayde Capell tore into the bowling, adding 93 in just 45 balls. Mills blasted 52 from only 25 deliveries, smashing four fours and five sixes in a breathtaking assault, while Capell hammered 38 from 25 balls with three fours and three maximums. Just when Glendermott looked set for a total well beyond 200, Mark Robinson dragged the visitors back into contention by dismissing both openers during a wobble that saw four wickets fall for only 15 runs. However, Alan Johnson ensured the innings finished with another flourish. The aggressive former captain dominated an unbroken fifth-wicket stand of 84 in seven overs alongside Craig Averill, crashing five sixes and three fours in a superb 31-ball 56 not out. Averill provided excellent support with an unbeaten 21 as Glendermott closed on an imposing 192 for 4. The Under-19s began brightly in reply despite early wickets for Charlie Gault and Sam Haslett, thanks largely to Mo Hussain. He counter-attacked superbly, striking six fours and a six in a 30-ball 40 before falling to one of the moments of the match when Ben Mills produced a stunning overhead return catch off his own bowling. Hussain’s dismissal triggered a dramatic collapse as the visitors lost five wickets for just five runs. Home skipper Ted Britton ripped through the middle order, claiming a superb hat-trick in figures of 3 for 6. Charlie Downey battled gamely for 20, but Harry Boyd’s two wickets and one from JJ O’Brien wrapped up a dominant win ahead of Thursday’s top-of-the-table clash between leaders Bonds Glen and third-placed Eglinton.

There was no repeat of the previous day’s drama as rain brought the North West Championship T20 clash between Killyclooney and Glendermott to a premature end after just 10 overs at Killyclooney. Meeting again less than 24 hours after Killyclooney’s Championship victory, the home side made a lively start and reached 68 for 5 before the weather closed in. Opener Alan Nicholl and overseas professional Keenan Viera looked in excellent touch as they guided Killyclooney to 63 for 2, taking advantage of the shortened format with positive strokeplay. Nicholl struck 20 at the top of the order, while Viera led the way with an entertaining 24 from 22 balls that included two fours and two sixes. However, Glendermott hit back strongly in the latter stages of the innings. JJ O’Brien sparked a mini-collapse with impressive figures of 3 for 11, while Lewis Pearson claimed 2 for 28 as wickets tumbled in a late flurry before the rain arrived to end proceedings early, with neither side getting any points from the wash-out.

Glendermott continued their impressive start to the season with a convincing seven-wicket win over Letterkenny at Drummond. The hosts struggled to build momentum after being inserted and finished on 114 for 8 from their 20 overs. Skipper Gopi Silva top-scored with 20, but disciplined bowling from the visitors kept the scoring in check throughout. Craig Averill led the attack with economical figures of 2 for 13, while Curtis Ross claimed 2 for 34. Glendermott made light work of the chase, reaching their target in just 14 overs. Blayde Cappell produced the standout innings of the match with a superb unbeaten 55 from only 29 balls, striking three fours and four sixes in a commanding display. Averill capped a fine all-round performance with a steady run-a-ball 20 as The Rectory cruised to another comfortable victory.
