Ireland Under-19 Women suffer agonising two-run defeat as Namibia go 2-0 up
IRELAND Under-19 Women suffered a heartbreaking two-run defeat against Namibia's senior women's side as the hosts took a 2-0 lead in the series despite the Irish appearing in control of the chase for much of the contest.

Chasing a modest 127 for victory, Ireland looked well placed to level the series, but ultimately fell agonisingly short, finishing on 124 for four from their 20 overs. Skipper Alice Tector led from the front with an unbeaten 52, but her determined half-century wasn't enough to prevent a second successive defeat.
Earlier, Ireland's bowlers had produced an impressive display to restrict the Capricorn Eagles A to 126 for six.
Aisling Lawlor was the pick of the attack, claiming two for 23, while Sophie Bellew returned excellent figures of one for 21, including a maiden. The hosts were struggling at 41 for four before captain Mekelaye Mwatile came to their rescue. She struck an unbeaten 53, sharing a crucial fifth-wicket partnership of 51 with Edelle Van Zyl, who contributed 20, to ensure Namibia reached a competitive total.
Ireland's reply began shakily, with Charlotte Webber run out for three and Rebecca Lowe departing for 19, leaving the visitors on 32 for two. However, Tector and Lawlor (11) steadied the innings with a third-wicket stand of 59, putting Ireland firmly back in contention.
Niamh Lowry then joined her captain, adding 22 as the pair took Ireland to 120 for three and seemingly within touching distance of victory, but dot balls at crucial times saw Namibia holding their nerve in the closing stages to snatch a dramatic victory.
The defeat was particularly disappointing given their strong position throughout much of the pursuit, with the Irish youngsters now facing an uphill battle to recover in the series.
They will get the opportunity to level the series on Wednesday when the sides play a double header, with Saturday also seeing the teams in back-to-back matches to level the series.
