Nostalgia night to mark centenary of Fingal Cricket League
A special evening celebrating 100 years since the foundation of the Fingal Cricket League will take place later this month, bringing together generations of players, officials and supporters to remember a competition that played a vital role in keeping cricket alive in the area.

The Fingal Cricket League was established on October 26, 1926, and a Nostalgia Evening will be held at The Vineyard at 7.30pm on Saturday, October 24, to commemorate the centenary.
Joe Curtis is preparing a presentation for the occasion, while there will also be an open microphone giving some of the great characters of Fingal cricket the chance to recall memorable matches, personalities and incidents from down the years.
The event will celebrate not only the history of the league, but also its wider importance to cricket in the region.
There is a firmly held belief among those involved that, without the Fingal Cricket League, the game may have disappeared completely from the area.
Instead, generations of players and volunteers ensured that cricket not only survived but eventually thrived.
The evening promises to be as much about the people as the matches, with old photographs, stories and shared memories helping to bring a century of Fingal cricket history back to life.
