Muckamore Seconds made it two trophies in the space of a week as they followed up their recent Ulster Plate success with a comfortable 47-run victory over CI Seconds in the NCU Junior League One T20 Plate final at Moylena.

The hosts recovered from a dreadful start after Jude Keates and Sam Gordon were both dismissed for one, leaving Muckamore two for two inside the second over.

Jamie Magowan steadied the innings superbly, batting through to finish unbeaten on 60 from 51 balls. His measured knock contained five fours and a six and proved the backbone of Muckamore’s 114 for four.

Marko Bates made nine before captain Philip Skillen joined Magowan in a crucial fourth-wicket partnership of 74. Skillen contributed 27 from 32 deliveries, while Sam Magee provided late impetus with an unbeaten 12 from eight balls.

Adam McCormick was the pick of the CI attack with two for 12 from four overs.

CI’s chase never developed any momentum.

Peter Harold was run out without facing a ball and, after Adam Heasley and captain Adam Maitland departed, the visitors were struggling at 23 for three.

Adam McCormick attempted to hold the innings together with 25 from 38 balls, but wickets continued to tumble around him.

Muckamore’s attack shared the honours, with Luka Bates, Sam Gordon, Curtis Moorhead and Jamie Jackson all taking two wickets, while Neil Gill claimed one.

Gordon was particularly economical, conceding only 10 runs from his four overs as CI were dismissed for 67.

It capped another memorable afternoon for Muckamore Seconds, who have finished the season in fine style.
