Muckamore produced a commanding batting display to defeat Fox Lodge by 150 runs and lift the Ulster Plate at Woodvale.

Their Second XI piled up an imposing 343 for seven from 40 overs before dismissing Fox Lodge for 193 - the win set up with half centuries from the top four.

Jude Keates and captain Philip Skillen provided the perfect platform, racing to 103 for the opening wicket in little more than 10 overs. Keates was particularly destructive, hammering 60 from just 37 balls with nine fours and three sixes, while Skillen struck 10 boundaries in his 57 from 46 deliveries.

The decisive partnership followed as Marko Bates and Sam Gordon added 128 for the third wicket.

Bates provided the solidity with 57 from 63 balls, including five fours, while Gordon launched a spectacular assault, smashing 82 from only 57 deliveries with 10 fours and three sixes.

Late fireworks from Sam Magee, unbeaten on 28 from 11 balls with a four and three sixes, and Neil Gill, 16 not out, carried Muckamore to a quite formidable 343.

Fox Lodge needed a flying start but lost Craig Doherty early before Charlie Simpson and Jonathan Heywood revived their hopes with an 87-run second-wicket partnership.

Simpson counter-attacked superbly, striking 13 fours in a rapid 66 from 43 balls, while Heywood made 30 with three fours and two sixes.

Their dismissals in quick succession changed the complexion of the chase, although Luke Hayes briefly resisted with 34, including two fours and three sixes, alongside Jordan Cochrane’s unbeaten 24.

Muckamore then closed out the contest emphatically. Gordon completed an excellent all-round performance with three for 30, while Jamie Jackson also claimed three wickets and Sam Magee took two, as they closed out an emphatic victory and a deserved Ulster Plate triumph for the Moylena side.
