Ballyspallen stayed firmly in the title race after producing a remarkable recovery to beat Burndennett, inspired by unbeaten centuries from Graham Kennedy and Raveen Yasas.

Chasing 240, Ballyspallen were in serious trouble at 13 for three after Ryan Barr removed Hassan Shahid, Pushpender Singh and Jacob Blair in an excellent opening burst.

From there, however, the game was transformed completely.

Kennedy and Yasas launched a stunning counter-attack, sharing an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 231 as Ballyspallen raced to victory in just 23.5 overs.

Kennedy was the more explosive of the pair, smashing an unbeaten 114 from only 58 balls, including nine fours and 11 sixes. Yasas was scarcely less destructive, finishing 106 not out from 62 deliveries with 13 fours and six maximums.

Earlier, Burndennett had posted a competitive 239 for nine from their 50 overs.

Mark Doherty made 56 and Marty Mahaffey 70 as the pair put on 115 for the opening wicket, while Ryan Barr provided late impetus with an unbeaten 49 from just 30 balls, striking four fours and four sixes.

Ballyspallen’s bowlers fought back well after the strong start. Stephen Kennedy, Graham Kennedy and Pushpender Singh all claimed two wickets, while Raveen Yasas also struck.

Yet the day belonged emphatically to Kennedy and Yasas.

Their extraordinary partnership turned what had threatened to become a difficult chase into a rout, securing a seven-wicket victory with more than 26 overs to spare.

With the season entering its final weeks, the emphatic win ensures Ballyspallen remain very much in contention for the title and promotion.
