Pembroke Women maintained second place with an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Leinster, chasing down 116 in just 11.3 overs.

Leinster recovered from a difficult start to post 115 for eight, with Alex Sheedy holding the innings together superbly.

Sheedy struck 56 from 50 balls, including seven boundaries, while Isabel Saeed-Maguire added a brisk 21 from 15 deliveries.

Pembroke’s bowlers kept tight control throughout, with Marama Downes conceding just seven runs from her four overs. Jessica Duffy-Mullen claimed two wickets, while Louise Little, Kimli McDonald, Penny Speer and Zoe Bell also struck.

Pembroke then made light work of the chase.

Little led the charge with a rapid 48 from only 27 balls, hitting eight fours and a six, while Izzy McLean added 39 from 30 deliveries.

Their opening stand of 95 effectively settled the contest before Little fell in the eighth over.

McLean followed at 113, but Isobel Jennings and Downes completed the job without further alarm.

The convincing win keeps Pembroke firmly in second place and ensured they maintained the pressure at the top end of the table.
