Malahide Women produced a dominant all-round performance to cruise to an eight-wicket victory over Clontarf.

Clontarf never recovered from a disastrous start after being reduced to nine for four inside four overs, with Arlene Kelly and Freya Sargent doing the early damage.

Kelly was outstanding, returning three for nine from her spell, while Sargent claimed two for 15. Isobel McCormack also picked up two wickets as Malahide kept a firm grip on proceedings.

Rosie Neuman Jones attempted to rebuild with 19, while Hannah Pasley top-scored with 24, striking four boundaries. Their efforts helped Clontarf reach 75 for eight from their 20 overs, but it was always going to be a difficult total to defend.

Malahide made short work of the chase.

Meg Thompson led the way with an attacking 38 from 30 balls, including six fours, while Freya Sargent completed an excellent individual display by adding 19 with the bat. The pair put on 54 for the first wicket to effectively settle the contest.

Robyn Searle claimed both consolation wickets to fall, but Arlene Kelly and Gemma Sargent saw Malahide comfortably over the line just before the halfway stage.
