JACK TECTOR wants Pembroke to embrace the occasion as they chase a third trophy of a potentially remarkable five this season.

The Sydney Parade side have swept relentlessly through the summer despite having their squad depth severely tested by international call-ups, yet every time key players have been missing others have stepped forward.

That resilience has been one of the defining features of their campaign and Tector believes it leaves Pembroke well placed for another major final, looking to claim the Bob Kerr trophy for a second time having won it previously iin 2019.

“Like every game we've played, we've had great supporters that have come up and got behind us for each round, so you can see how much it means to them,” said the Pembroke captain.

“There obviously will be nerves around. But I think it’s about trying to keep everyone relaxed and enjoy the day.

“We've been playing very good cricket throughout the summer, so it’s just trying to bring that momentum into the final and hopefully we can produce our best cricket on the day.”

Pembroke could have some of their Irish internationals back available, but recent weeks have shown that whatever side they field will still carry considerable quality.

“We've actually been without the Irish players for a number of the rounds, so it's been particularly satisfying to see guys step up at different times,” said Tector.

“We've probably used near on 20 players throughout the campaign, so everyone's had to step up at different times.”

That collective effort has kept alive their pursuit of an extraordinary clean sweep of five trophies.

The significance of the latest final is not lost on Tector, with supporters travelling from far and wide.

“It would be a massive day for everyone at the club,” he added.

“I've had messages from people who are going to be flying back, club members, even one from Australia who's booked his flights for the game, so you can see what it means to everyone.

“Hopefully as a playing group we can give our best performance and lift the cup on the day for everyone involved at Pembroke.”

The game at Castle Avenue on Sunday gets underway at 12pm.
