Landsman stars as Balbriggan overpower Phoenix

Madison Landsman produced a superb all-round display as Balbriggan powered to a 51-run victory over Phoenix.

Batting first, Balbriggan posted an imposing 163 for seven from their 20 overs, with Landsman providing the fireworks at the top of the order.

She smashed 64 from just 33 balls, hitting five fours and five sixes, and shared an opening stand of 83 with Lara Maritz, who made a run-a-ball 23.

Courtney Gounden then ensured the momentum was maintained with an unbeaten 32 from 28 balls, including five boundaries.

Siúin Woods was the pick of the Phoenix attack with four for 32, while Arisha Foysal claimed two for 16.

Phoenix never seriously threatened the target after losing regular wickets in reply.

Aditiba Chudasama top-scored with 35 from 28 balls, while Woods made 19, but Balbriggan kept a firm grip on proceedings.

Lara Maritz led the bowling effort with an excellent spell of three for 13, while Julia Hoal claimed two for 25.

Landsman completed a fine individual performance by taking two for just seven, as Phoenix were restricted to 112 for eight.

It capped a dominant display from Balbriggan, built around Landsman’s explosive half-century and an efficient bowling performance that keeps the Fingal side very much in the title mix in third place.
