Strabane derail Fox Lodge title challenge in Tyrone derby

Strabane effectively ended Fox Lodge’s hopes of a maiden league title with an excellent six-wicket victory in a fiercely contested Tyrone derby.

Fox Lodge were bowled out for 188 in 44.3 overs after failing to capitalise on several promising starts.

Brian Allen top-scored with 44, while Gayan Maneeshan made 46 and Charlie Simpson added 27. However, once Strabane broke through, the innings never gathered enough momentum.

Andrew Mullen was the standout bowler, claiming four for 36, while Himanshu Khurana and Rhys Logue took two wickets apiece. Ryan Gallagher also returned a miserly one for 12 from seven overs.

Strabane’s reply was built on patience before Aaron Gillespie produced the decisive innings.

Conor Graham made 40 at the top of the order, while Logue contributed 23, but Strabane still had work to do at 111 for three.

Gillespie then took control with a superb 68 from 66 balls, striking six fours and two sixes. His fourth-wicket partnership with skipper Kevin Gallagher effectively settled the contest.

Gillespie finally fell with just 10 runs required, but Gallagher remained unbeaten on 20 as Strabane got over the line in the 45th over.

Skipper Jonny Robinson was the pick of the Fox Lodge attack with two for 21, but his efforts were in vain.

The result was a major blow to Fox Lodge’s championship ambitions and leaves their hopes of a historic first title hanging by the thinnest of threads, while for the Red Caps this was another impressive result - especially without Mohammed Mohsin who has returned home and John Mooney, who is coaching at The Hundred.
