Kennedy and Lyttle centuries powers Donacloney Mill to superb chase

Aaron Kennedy and Matthew Lyttle hit hundreds as Donacloney Mill chased down 277 to beat Derriaghy by eight wickets in an impressive batting display.

Derriaghy had appeared in a strong position after posting 276 for nine from their 47 overs, built around a superb 110 from Ryan Beckett.

Beckett struck 16 fours and two sixes in his 103-ball innings, sharing useful partnerships throughout the top order before being dismissed by Kennedy with the score on 185.

Aaron Kinnin then ensured the innings finished strongly with an unbeaten 54 from 41 balls, including seven boundaries, as Derriaghy pushed beyond 275.

Kennedy, Harry Lockhart, Alex Ogle and Matthew Lyttle all claimed two wickets for Donacloney Mill.

The visitors' reply began positively through Lyttle and Shane Warren, who put on 87 for the opening wicket before Warren fell for 44 from 48 deliveries.

That brought Kennedy to the crease and he combined with Lyttle in a match-defining second-wicket partnership of 157.

Lyttle reached a superb century from 132 balls, striking 16 fours, before finally being dismissed by Matt Scoble with Donacloney Mill already well placed on 244 for two.

Kennedy then took responsibility for seeing the chase through, completing his hundred from 85 deliveries with 14 fours and two sixes.

Neil Kilpatrick chipped in with an unbeaten 11 as Donacloney Mill reached their target with seven balls to spare.

Kennedy finished on 101 not out, completing an outstanding all-round performance after also taking two wickets earlier in the day.
