Holywood maintained their relentless march towards the NCU Women’s Premiership title by making it seven wins from seven with a crushing 159-run victory over Instonians.

The emphatic success was a repeat of last week’s Senior Cup final, when Holywood also proved far too strong for their Shaw’s Bridge opponents.

Batting first, the league leaders amassed 221 for one from their 20 overs, with Madison Landsman, Nina Kerr and Lara Maritz all producing commanding innings.

Captain Landsman set the tone with a rapid 49 from 29 balls, striking eight fours and a six before falling to Emily Wilson with the score on 82. The South African has enjoyable a remarkable season to date, taking her run aggregate to 727 at an incredible average of 121.17.

Kerr and Maritz then completely dominated the remainder of the innings, sharing an unbroken stand of 139. Kerr finished unbeaten on 63 from 51 deliveries, including seven boundaries, while Maritz smashed an unbeaten 87 from only 45 balls, hitting 10 fours and three sixes.

Instonians never threatened to mount a serious chase and were reduced to 22 for six inside the powerplay.

Maritz removed Erin Mitchell and Aimee Scollard before dismissing Wilson for nine, while Kerr tore through the middle order. She claimed four for 13, accounting for Amy Kimber, Matilda McCartney, Lana Watt and Ava Willmott.

Sanvi Vinothkumar offered the only meaningful resistance, striking four fours in her 22, but Alexis MacDonald removed Anna Lunny before Phoebe Kerr took the final two wickets in successive deliveries.

Instonians were bowled out for 62, leaving Holywood with another maximum-points victory and strengthening their already formidable grip on the Premiership title race.
