Bonds Glen reignited their Championship title ambitions with a maximum-points victory over Burndennett after a remarkable display of power-hitting produced a 144-run DLS success.

Their imposing total of 383 for six from a rain-reduced 35 overs was all the more impressive after Dharm Singh fell to the first ball of the innings and Johnny Haslett departed soon afterwards, leaving the hosts seven for two.

Danie Rossouw launched the recovery with a rapid 53 from 36 deliveries, striking seven fours and two sixes, but the innings was transformed by a breathtaking 133 from William McClintock.

McClintock faced only 61 balls, clearing the boundary 14 times and adding 10 fours as Burndennett’s attack struggled to contain the onslaught. He shared a 95-run partnership with Heinrich Roberts, whose 40 from 25 balls included three fours and three sixes.

Samuel Haslett maintained the tempo with 41, before Stephen McGowan and Sam Kincaid delivered a devastating finish. McGowan struck six sixes in an unbeaten 66 from 37 balls, while Kincaid smashed an undefeated 29 from only 14 deliveries.

Bonds Glen struck 28 sixes in total as eight Burndennett bowlers conceded at least seven runs per over.

Burndennett made a positive response in their reduced chase, with Mark Doherty and Zahid Mudassar both scoring 30. Mudassar’s innings came from just 13 balls and included four fours and two sixes.

However, regular wickets prevented them from mounting a serious challenge. Skipper Andy Barr fought hard with an unbeaten 56 from 51 deliveries, striking six fours and three sixes, but Burndennett finished on 179 for seven from 26 overs.

Samuel Haslett took two for 34, while five other bowlers claimed one wicket apiece.

The emphatic win, secured by the DLS method, earned Bonds Glen maximum points and put them firmly back into the Championship title conversation.
