Table-toppers Newbuildings extended their advantage at the summit with a crushing 225-run victory over Strabane.

After slipping to 17 for two, the leaders recovered spectacularly to post 370 for six from their 50 overs.

Peat Salmon was the dominant figure, hammering 172 from 106 balls with 10 fours and 15 sixes. He shared a crucial third-wicket stand of 142 with Johnny Thompson, who made 56.

Jared Wilson then ensured there was no respite for Strabane, striking an unbeaten 100 from 89 deliveries. His innings contained eight fours and six sixes as Newbuildings piled on the runs during the closing overs.

Mohsin claimed three wickets for Strabane, while Manav Aggarwal took two.

Strabane began their reply positively, with Conor Graham making 44 and Rhys Logue adding 34. Their opening stand carried the score to 81, but the innings then collapsed dramatically.

Ross Hunter removed Graham before dismissing Aaron Gillespie and Mohsin in quick succession. Jason Dunn then claimed two wickets, while Jared Wilson completed an excellent all-round display with three for 12.

Strabane lost ten wickets for 64 runs and were bowled out for 145, leaving Newbuildings to strengthen their grip on top spot ahead of Fox Lodge.

They will certainly take some stopping in the home straight as their quest for a domestic treble stays alive.
