Clontarf end Pembroke’s unbeaten league run

Clontarf handed leaders Pembroke their first defeat of the season with a 19-run victory in a high-scoring contest.

Batting first, Clontarf piled up 341 for eight from their 50 overs, with Irish international Curtis Campher leading the way through a destructive 79 from 59 balls. His innings contained six fours and five sixes.

Mitchell Thompson made 56, Seamus Lynch added 44 and Eoghan Delany contributed 30, while John McNally’s unbeaten 25 from 14 balls gave the total a late surge.

Dan Murray was Pembroke’s most successful bowler with three for 51, while Byron McDonough claimed two wickets.

Pembroke made a strong reply but were always chasing a demanding rate. JJ Garth struck 67, while Addison Sherriff produced a fine 97 from 90 deliveries.

Jack Tector made 32 and Danny Hogan finished unbeaten on 62, but Clontarf kept taking wickets at important moments.

Reuben Wilson led the attack with three for 69, while David Delany claimed two for 46 and Campher completed an excellent all-round display with one wicket.

Pembroke closed on 322 for six, falling 19 runs short as Clontarf ended the leaders’ unbeaten start to the campaign.
