The NCU completed an impressive Under-19 girls double with a crushing 167-run victory over Leinster.

Batting first, the NCU recovered from losing opener Emily Carville to the first ball of the match to compile a formidable 221 for seven from their 35 overs.

Niamh Lowry was the outstanding performer, carrying her bat for a superb unbeaten 89 from 98 deliveries. Her composed innings contained 11 boundaries and provided the backbone of the NCU total.

Captain Grace Wilson struck three fours in a brisk 14, while Erin Bond added 12 before Lowry and Lucy Andrews took control with a valuable fourth-wicket partnership of 67. Andrews made 33 from 47 balls, hitting five boundaries.

Leinster contributed 61 extras, including 44 wides, while Manoj was the most successful bowler with two wickets for 16.

The NCU bowlers then produced a ruthless display to dismiss Leinster for just 54 in 18 overs.

Waringstown's Penny Speer led the way with excellent figures of four for 17 from seven overs, removing Zoe Bell, Izzy McClean, Isobel Jennings and Sinead Thomson.

Katie West claimed three for 10, while Anna Ellerby returned an outstanding two for six from five overs, including a maiden. Andrews took the final wicket to complete the emphatic win.

Hayden top-scored for Leinster with 11, but no other batter reached double figures as wickets fell at regular intervals.

The comprehensive victory capped a memorable campaign for the NCU girls and confirmed their status as the leading Under-19 side after securing a richly deserved double.
