Glendermott reignited their promotion hopes with a crushing nine-wicket victory over bottom side Letterkenny, inspired by a sensational unbeaten century from Blayde Capell.

Letterkenny struggled to build momentum after being asked to bat, with only Riyaz Bablu offering prolonged resistance with 42 from 91 balls. Ramees Machingal made 28 and Sohel Shaik struck a brisk 23, but regular wickets restricted the visitors to 124 in 39.3 overs. Craig Averill was the pick of the attack with excellent figures of 3 for 12, while Ben Mills and Trevor Britton each claimed two wickets. Alex Boyd also struck twice as Glendermott maintained relentless pressure.

The reply began with a surprise as Ben Mills fell first ball, but that was as good as it got for Letterkenny.

Capell then unleashed a breathtaking display of strokeplay, smashing an unbeaten 100 from just 59 deliveries. His dazzling innings featured 14 fours and three sixes as he dominated the attack from the outset.

Together with Craig Averill, who finished unbeaten on 22, Capell added an unbroken 119 for the second wicket to seal victory in emphatic fashion. The target was overhauled in just 17.5 overs, with Glendermott reaching 125 for 1 to boost both their net run rate and their promotion ambitions.

Eglinton produced a batting masterclass before completing a crushing 291-run victory over Burndennett in a one-sided contest.

The home side piled up a remarkable 467 for 7 from their 50 overs, with two batsmen making centuries. Dunith Jayathunga led the way with a superb 122 from 92 balls, striking 17 fours, while Jamie Millar blasted 107 from just 71 deliveries, including eight fours and six sixes. 

Andy Millar had earlier laid the platform with a sparkling 83, and Robbie Millar's explosive 41 from only 16 balls helped Eglinton finish in style. Burndennett were hampered by 41 wides, while Conan Pollock, Usman Azhar and Mohammad Saghir each claimed two wickets.

Burndennett's reply began brightly as Marty Mahaffey hammered 58 from 46 balls and Andrew Barr added 28 in an opening stand of 92. Usman Azhar chipped in with 26, but once Ian Young struck, the innings unravelled dramatically.

Young produced outstanding figures of 6 for 32, removing six of the last eight wickets, while Dylan McElhatton claimed 3 for 62. Burndennett were dismissed for 176 in 29 overs, with only three batsmen reaching double figures, as Eglinton completed one of the most emphatic victories of the Championship season.

Ballyspallen moved to the top of the Championship with an emphatic 106-run victory over Ardmore, inspired by a superb century from Hassan Shahid and five wickets for Stephen Kennedy.

Batting first, Ballyspallen piled up 290 for six from their 50 overs. Shahid was the cornerstone of the innings, compiling a magnificent 132 from 140 balls, with 11 fours and four sixes. He shared important stands with Raveen Yasas, who made 45, and Graham Kennedy, whose brisk 47 helped accelerate the scoring. Curtis McElwee added an unbeaten 22 from just 13 deliveries as the visitors finished strongly.

Dave Bezzant was Ardmore’s leading bowler with three for 66, while Conor Brolly returned an economical one for 37.

Ardmore’s reply was built around Kasun Aberaytne, who struck 104 from 103 balls, including 13 fours and a six. However, support was limited as wickets fell regularly around him.

Raveen Yasas claimed three for 53 before Stephen Kennedy ripped through the lower order, finishing with five for 30, while younger brother Graham also bowled with outstanding control, conceding only 10 runs from seven overs.

Ardmore were dismissed for 184, sealing a commanding win that lifted Ballyspallen to the Championship summit.

Killyclooney continued to defy the odds and kept themselves firmly in the Championship promotion race with a stunning eight-wicket victory over fancied Bonds Glen.

Batting first, Bonds Glen posted a competitive 261 from 47.2 overs. Heinrich Roberts led the way with an excellent 73 from 69 balls, striking 10 fours and a six, while Stephen McGowan supplied late momentum with 41 from 33 deliveries, including five sixes. 

Johnny Haslett made 22, Danie Rossouw 29 and Sam Kincaid 23, but Killyclooney kept taking wickets. Jason Wallace claimed three for 65, with Cody Mehaffey and Giles Raymond Moan collecting two apiece.

The chase, however, belonged completely to Keenan Vieira. The South African professional produced a breathtaking unbeaten 186 from only 133 balls, hammering 21 fours and 13 sixes in one of the innings of the season.

Vieira dominated stands of 74 with Andy Nicholl, who made 21, and 82 with Moan, who also scored 21. Captain Timothy Dougherty then helped finish the job with an unbeaten 23.

Killyclooney raced to their target in the 39th over, completing a remarkable win with 67 balls remaining and underlining that their promotion challenge is very much alive, despite beginning the season as clear outsiders.
