Leinster Under-19s gained swift revenge over the NCU with a comprehensive 92-run win at Park Avenue.

Batting first, Leinster were bowled out for 207 in 49.5 overs, but their total proved more than enough once Ollie Riley inspired a decisive new-ball burst.

Bruce Whaley gave the Dubliners innings early momentum, hitting five fours in his 27 from 28 balls, before skipper Rob O’Brien played the key hand. O’Brien’s composed 61 from 97 deliveries contained six boundaries and held the innings together after wickets had fallen regularly.

The captain found important support from Riley, with the pair adding 61 for the fifth wicket to lift Leinster from 98 for 4 to a much stronger position. Riley made 22, while late runs from Philippe le Roux and Connor Walden pushed the total beyond 200.

Ben Walsh was the pick of the NCU attack with 4 for 33, backed up by Alex Armstrong’s 2 for 36.

NCU’s reply never recovered from losing James West and Seb Yeates early. Riley ripped through the top order to finish with 4 for 21, while Luke Murray claimed 3 for 21 and Connor Walden 2 for 20.

Elijah Harte made 25 and Lucas McKeown was unbeaten on 32, but NCU were dismissed for 115.

Luke Marillier produced a magnificent 160 as the North West Under-19s swept aside Munster by 182 runs in a one-sided interprovincial contest.

The Donemana youngster dominated the innings, facing 135 balls and striking 19 fours and four sixes as the North West posted an imposing 299 for 8 in their 50 overs.

Marillier was involved in three key partnerships that shaped the match. He added 55 for the second wicket with James Smallwoods, who made 28, before sharing 52 for the third with Mo Hussain. The decisive stand came later when Marillier and Charlie Gault put on 123 for the sixth wicket, Gault making an excellent 53 from 55 balls, including three sixes.

Munster’s most successful bowler was Mark Donnelly, who claimed 4 for 56, including the prized wickets of Marillier and Gault late in the innings.

In reply, Munster never threatened the target and were dismissed for 117 in 27.4 overs. Callum Stevenson top-scored with 35, while Will Shields added 20.

Sam Haslett led the North West attack with 4 for 42, backed up by Swarnim Jha and Bobby Brolly, who each took two wickets. The result completed a comprehensive victory and underlined Marillier’s growing reputation as one of the region’s brightest young batting talents.
