Ireland Women will launch their new ICC Women’s Championship campaign against West Indies at Bready next week after Cricket Ireland confirmed a 14-player squad for the three-match ODI series.

Gaby Lewis will captain the side, with Orla Prendergast named vice-captain, as Ireland begin the long road towards qualification for the 2029 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.

The series starts on July 10, with further matches on July 12 and July 15, all at Bready and all beginning at 10.45am.

Ireland go into the series with confidence after beating West Indies by six wickets when the sides met last week at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The challenge now is to carry that momentum into the 50-over format in a competition that will shape the next four years.

The squad blends experience and youth, with Amy Hunter, Arlene Kelly, Leah Paul, Rebecca Stokell, Cara Murray and Prendergast all included, while Christina Coulter Reilly, Alana Dalzell, Sarah Forbes, Louise Little, Aimee Maguire, Jane Maguire and Coleraine off-spinner Kia McCartney complete the panel.

Ireland will play eight three-match ODI series during the 2025-2029 Championship cycle — four at home against India, New Zealand, Pakistan and West Indies, and four away to England, Australia, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.

The Championship carries major significance, with the host nation and the next seven highest-ranked sides qualifying automatically for the 2029 World Cup. The remaining two places will be decided through a qualifier.
