St Johnston held their nerve to edge a dramatic five-run victory over Glendermott in a gripping contest.

The visitors were bowled out for 207 in 48.5 overs, built around an excellent 81 from Michael Rankin. His innings, featuring six fours and four sixes, was the cornerstone of the total as he shared partnerships of 74 with Mark Pollock (43) and 64 with David Lapsley.

Craig Averill and Trevor Britton claimed three wickets apiece for the hosts.

Glendermott looked favourites after a blistering start, racing to 93 without loss in the powerplay. Ben Mills struck 33 from 24 balls, while Blayde Capell hammered 62 from 49 deliveries, including five sixes.

Averill added a composed 42 as victory beckoned, but a sensational collapse saw the last five wickets fall for just ten runs.

Scott Devenney, Rankin and Nathan Cole each took three wickets as St Johnston snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

Burndennett produced one of the surprises of the season as they defeated Bonds Glen by seven wickets to book their place in the Sammy Jeffrey Shield semi-finals.

Bonds Glen were bowled out for 149 in 30.3 overs despite a fluent 57 from Heinrich Roberts, whose 40-ball knock included nine fours and a six.

Burndennett's bowlers shared the spoils, with Mo Saghir, Ryan Barr and Usman Azhar all claiming three wickets.

The chase was anchored by a match-winning unbroken stand of 97 between the Barr brothers. Skipper Andrew Barr struck 45 not out, while Ryan Barr finished unbeaten on 50, guiding Burndennett to victory with more than seven overs to spare.

Brigade booked their place after edging past Ballyspallen by four wickets in a low-scoring contest.

Ballyspallen were dismissed for 163, with Raveen Yasas carrying the fight with an impressive 82 (12 fours, 1 six), while Stephen Kennedy added 22. Brigade shared the wickets around, with David Barr, Trent McKeegan, Ryan Macbeth and Scott Macbeth all claiming two apiece.

The chase proved far from straightforward, but useful contributions throughout the order guided Brigade home. Gavin Roulston top-scored with 32, while Adam McDaid (28), Ifty Hussain (24), David Barr (23) and unbeaten Ryan Macbeth (23*) secured victory with seven balls to spare despite Graham Kennedy's 3-28.

There was no play in the Letterkenny versus Killyclooney game and it will be rescheduled over the coming weeks.
