DONEMANA LOOKING TO FIRE

Donemana will finally get their campaign up and running this weekend as they travel to Strabane, as well as playing old rivals Brigade in the T20 Charity final. Skipper Gary McClintock is looking forward to getting his newly strengthened squad onto the turf.

“It’s certainly a big weekend coming up for us, firstly against Strabane who hammered Bready in their first match so it’s not going to be easy and will need to play wel, and then in the Charity T20 final against Brigade.”

The Holm men added interprovincial player Melvin Deveraj to their ranks earlier this month, and McClintock is delighted to have acquired the services of the Warriors hopeful.

“Melvin will help us massively, as he is a top, top bowler. We know all about him as he took five wickets against us last year in the Irish Cup at Merrion. He possesses a bit of pace and no doubt that’s what we need, so he will be massive for us.

“We haven’t had a big squad like this for years now and it’s going to be tough on Thursday nights when the team is picked but hopefully everyone can understand if they’re left out.

“Our bowling this year looks a lot better than in recent times, while is batting is more or less the same aside from William.

“We are hoping to get off to a good start in the league as the games come thick and fast. We want another good season with our new faces, and hopefully we can bring back some silverware to the Holm again.”
