There's been a bit of a change at Eglinton over the winter, which was perhaps understandable given their relegation from the top flight. The fine margins between success and failure evident by the fact that with essentially the same personnel, the side that had gone so close to a league title in 2024 was relegated in 2025.

Barry Scott arrives a player/coach, while Adam and James Bell come in from Coleraine. The club has also taken advantage of the new youth player loan system to sign highly rated teenager Charlie Gault from Brigade.
There's a new overseas professional in Sri Lankan Dunith Jayathunga, who is a top-order batsman and occasional leg-break bowler.
"I'm really looking forward to the challenge that Premiership Two will bring this year," Lucas told CricketEurope.
"Losing Mark Averill opens a space up for the younger players to step up and gain some valuable experience with the new ball.
"The team has been working hard over the winter and know what our objectives are for the coming season, in what should be a tough and competitive season ahead."

There's no doubt that Eglinton will be a force in the Championship, but they realise it will take real effort in a competitive league to get back to the top flight at the first attempt.
