"And Alexander the Great wept, for there were no more worlds to conquer...." The quote attributed to the former Macedonian king could well be assigned to Balbriggan who lifted the most sought after trophy in Irish cricket, beating Clontarf in a high scoring final at Bready.

The phrase which might be more apt when it comes to sport and cricket is 'eaten bread is soon forgotten' and Balbriggan will no doubt not want to be resting on their laurels, wanting more trophies in the cabinet.
It's been a busy close season at Jack Harper Park, with some high profile departures and arrivals - Kashif Ali and Greg Ford heading out the door, while incoming are Ruan Strauss, Kai Curran, Aaron McGeehan and Prashan Naidoo.
"2025 was a brilliant season for the club when we were crowned All Ireland champions for the first time in our history, while the club also achieved success at ladies level and progression with our long-term youths plans," said a Balbriggan spokesperson.
"The Irish Senior Cup was without doubt the perfect end to a season after a slow start. We had some fantastic matches and great days along the way, memories that will last a lifetime which culminated with a memorable final in Bready - a day which will never be forgotten in Balbriggan.

"Over the winter we have had two departures with Kashif Ali moving to his home town club Knockharley and Greg Ford taking up a coaching role at Malahide. The two lads played a massive part in our success over the last four or five years winning multiple trophies including the Irish Senior Cup, Premier League, Alan Murray Cup and reaching the All-Ireland T20 final. We wish both lads nothing but the best and thank them for their contributions.
"Dylan Lues takes up the reigns as the new first team skipper and he is really excited to take the role and we have no doubt he will enjoy captaining a great bunch of guys.

"We have a few strong additions to the squad this season with Kai Curran, Ruan Strauss and Aaron McGeehan joining the club. All three are warmly welcomed to go along with a core group of experienced players who have performed consistently well over the past 4-5 years.
Just like last year, I think it’s going to be a really competitive league with very strong teams throughout and our main target again is to be competitive and give a good account of ourselves every time we take the field."
