ARDMORE

  • Captain: Mark Chambers
  • Players in: Matt Cuffe, Sadiq Safi.
  • Overseas Professional: Kasun Abeyrathna.
  • Young player to watch- Conor King.
  • Players out: Harry Zimmermann

Ardmore fell through the relegation trapdoor last year, losing the play-off to St Johnston, having beaten the Donegal side to survive the season before.

They have a new captain in wicket-keeper batsman Mark Chambers, who takes over from Harry Zimmermann who is the latest player off to pastures new in the NCU at North Down.

The 'Derry Dhoni' will have a few new faces to marshall at the Bleachgreen including new Sri Lankan overseas professional Kasun Abeyrathna, who is a right-handed top-order batter and useful bowler.

He is joined by South African 20-year-old leg-spinner and batsman Matt Cuffe, who is an Irish passport holder. Sadiq Safi also makes his way to the club, having impressed at Burndennett last season. He is a highly rated off-spinner who is very capable of giving the ball a decent thump down the order.

Conor King is also back having missed the 2025 campaign.

"I have one eye on the 150th anniversary in 2029, and I want the club in a stable position for that milestone," said Chambers, who himself missed most of the 2025 season with a knee injury.

"With Harry Zimmerman gone and Rachit Gaur out for season with an ACL injury, we are looking to consolidate and be competitive across all competitions.

"We should have Bobby Brolly available for second half of season once he completes his studies. Our professional comes with good reputation from his time in England, while Matt Cuffe and Sadiq Safi will certain boost our spin options, giving us a well balanced bowling unit."
