Less keen observers of Omani cricket will note several changes to their team since the last World Cup in 2024. This isn't because of any move to blood youngsters but because most of the squad from 2024 complained about not being paid their prize money promptly and were dropped as punishment.
So it was a very new look Omani side that were put in to bat by Zimbabwe - playing their first T20 World Cup since 2022 - and struggled, getting bowled out for just 103 with only three batters reaching double figures. Richard Ngarva, Blessing Muzarabani and Brad Evans all took three wickets for Zimbabwe.

The target was little problem for Zimbabwe, who chased it down with 6.3 overs to spare to win by eight wickets. Brian Bennett top scored with an unbeaten 48.
It won't get any easier for Oman in their next match as they take on tournament cohosts Sri Lanka on Thursday. Zimbabwe are next in action on Friday against Australia.
