It was a tough season for Burndennett whose campaign never really got going, finishing bottom of the Championship table, one of their only two wins coming on the last day of the season.

The club is one of the most welcoming in the region and you can only hope for better days ahead than they endured in 2025.

The batting failed to fire with no one able to make a century at senior level and indeed they managed just five fifties - a poor return on a ground that is traditionally high scoring.

Rahmatullah Sahaq scored three of the five on his way to 329 runs at 27.42, but it was Niall McDonnell who topped their averages and run charts with 359 runs at 27.62. Niall has advised that the boots are firmly hung up, and if that's the case then the NW is a poorer place for his retirement.

Andy Barr (253 runs at 15.81) and Mark Doherty (216 runs at 12.71) chipped in but there wasn't much else to write about.

The bowling unit also failed to fire with none reaching the 20-wickets marker. Not helped by the fact that the Championship is a 7-team league, they forfeited matches in the T20 Cup, and didn't have a cup run in any of the others.

Rahmat Sahaq topped the charts with 18 wickets at 22.88, while Sadiq Safi was second capturing 15 wickets at 27.66.

Conan Pollock (11 at 50.45) and Derek Curry (10 at 51.50) were the only other two to reach double figures.

It wasn't all doom and gloom at the club as their seconds won the cup, and in the words of Derry man Peter Cunnah aka D:Ream, "Things can only get better".
