Talented teenager Charlie Downey has confirmed he's joining Bready from near neighbours Newbuildings ahead of the 2026 season.

The opening bowler has played youth international cricket for Ireland, as well as Ulster Schools, and has represented the NW all through their youth levels right up to the senior Emerging Warriors squad.

He enjoyed a prolific 2023 season finishing well up the NW Premiership averages, but missed most of the 2024 season through injury.

Downey bounced back last season taking 19 wickets in the top flight.

"I felt the time was right for me to make a change to get a better opportunity for myself," he told CricketEurope.

"I'm really excited to make this move to Bready. I desire for a a new challenge and a new begining with more opportunities to come.

"Bready have a great set-up with good coaching and facilities to help me improve as a cricketer."
