The Hills have signed Australian Liam Blackford for the 2026 season, but are losing opening bowler Sean McNicholl who is off to pastures new at Phoenix.

The capture of 22-year-old Blackford looks to be a bit of a coup as the Milverton side look to return to the top flight of Leinster cricket. He is a former U19 international who scored a century against England.

A left-hander and wicket-keeper, he also made 86 against England Lions last year for a Cricket Australia XI.

His arrival will lift the mood after Irish passport holding Australian McNicholl confirmed his departure to Phoenix, keen to remain playing Premiership cricket.

McNicholl took 89 wickets at just over 20 in his three seasons at The Hills, with a best-bowling return of 6 for 41 against Rush.

He will add some firepower to an already strong Phoenix side, keen to once again be in the hunt for silverware.
