Bangor put two agonisingly narrow defeats behind them in emphatic fashion as they returned to winning ways with a convincing 111-run victory over Derriaghy.

The league leaders posted an imposing 268, with contributions throughout the order.

Sam McMillan gave the innings early momentum with 48 from 51 balls, while Brodie Harrison struck an entertaining 45 from just 35 deliveries, including six fours and three sixes.

Andrew Kirkpatrick then anchored the middle order with 61 from 70 balls, sharing useful partnerships that ensured Bangor maintained control. Angus Farrell added 24 before the visitors were dismissed in the 48th over.

Derriaghy never seriously threatened the target after losing Jonathan Bell without scoring.

Captain Ross Bailey made a brisk 26 and Ross Glover contributed 23, but Bangor’s bowlers kept applying pressure as wickets fell regularly.

Harrison completed an excellent all-round display by taking four for 23, while Mark Best returned an economical two for 19.

Derriaghy finished on 157, leaving Bangor with a much-needed morale-boosting victory.

They remain top of the table with three games remaining, but face a potentially season-defining contest next against second-placed Lurgan in a crunch clash that could go a long way towards deciding the title.

Lurgan kept their title challenge firmly alive with an emphatic nine-wicket victory over Saintfield, powered by a superb unbeaten century from Jaydee Oliver.

Chasing 241, Lurgan made light work of what appeared a potentially testing target.

Oliver dominated proceedings with an unbeaten 114 from 111 balls, striking 18 fours and a six in a commanding display.

Captain Stephen Johnston provided excellent support in an opening stand of 112, making 48 from 59 balls before falling to Ethan Hanna.

There was no respite for Saintfield, however, as Liam Doddrell joined Oliver in an unbroken second-wicket partnership of 129. Doddrell finished unbeaten on 66 from only 51 deliveries, hitting nine fours and two sixes as Lurgan cruised home with more than 13 overs unused.

Earlier, Saintfield had posted a competitive 240, largely thanks to a fine century from Werner Brand.

Brand struck 108 from 120 balls, sharing an opening stand of 114 with Will McNeilly, who made 40.

However, Saintfield lost momentum dramatically when Gareth Harrison, Bruno Caves and Ross Murray fell on 181 in the space of three deliveries.

Brendon Schmidt claimed a hat-trick, with Doddrell, Ivan Sinovich and Jack Maxwell taking two wickets apiece.

Carrickfergus kept themselves firmly in the title race with a convincing 131-run victory over Cregagh, drawing level on points with Bangor and Lurgan.

Carrick piled up 351 from 49 overs, with Ben Martin leading the charge with a superb 103 from 91 balls, including 11 fours and four sixes.

He received excellent support from Michael Gilmour, who blasted 67 from just 31 deliveries, while captain CJ Van der Walt added 69 from 56 balls as Carrick kept the pressure on throughout the innings.

For Cregagh, Ben Browne produced a remarkable individual effort with the ball, taking seven for 54, but the damage had already been done.

Cregagh’s reply never gathered enough momentum to threaten the target.

Captain Bob Moore made 57 and Daniel Henry struck an unbeaten 42, while Noah Kelly contributed 29, but wickets fell too regularly for any sustained challenge.

Atish Varape was the main destroyer, claiming four for 45 from his ten overs, while Luke Arbuthnot polished off the tail with three wickets for just five runs in a ten-ball spell. Cregagh were dismissed for 220, handing Carrick a comfortable victory as the title race heads towards a tense conclusion.
