Heat rout Warriors after batting collapse

Munster Heat inflicted a crushing eight-wicket defeat on Emerging Warriors after a dismal batting display saw the hosts bundled out for just 76.

The Warriors were in trouble from the outset, losing Gavin Roulston to the second ball before William Shields tore through the top order.

Shields removed Roulston, Hassan Shahid and James Smallwoods on his way to excellent figures of three for 20, while Zubair Hassan Khan and Seneth Sumanasinghe ensured there was no recovery.

Sumanasinghe was particularly miserly, taking three for six from four overs, including two maidens, while Hassan Khan finished with two wickets.

Luke Marillier provided the only substantial resistance, striking six fours in a brisk 27, but when he departed at 56 for five the innings quickly unravelled. The Warriors lost their final five wickets for just 20 runs, with Bobby Brolly stranded unbeaten on 13.

Munster made light work of the modest target.

Dineth Sumanasinghe led the chase with 39 from 39 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes, while Awais Saghir contributed 14.

Although both fell in quick succession with victory in sight, Chinmay Shinde remained unbeaten on 10 and Aziz Ullah finished seven not out as the Heat cruised to victory in 14 overs, able to start their trek southwards just after lunch.
