DEVINE SEES BRIGHT FUTURE DESPITE CUP EXIT
Fox Lodge’s defence of the Women’s Senior Cup is over, but star player Mollie Devine believes the club’s young squad can take plenty from Sunday’s defeat by Bonds Glen.

The holders bowed out after a competitive contest against one of the leading sides in the league, with Devine again playing a key role with the bat. It has been a season of transition for Fox Lodge, who lost a number of first-team regulars over the close season and have placed their faith in youth as they rebuild for the future.
“Sunday was a good game, with everyone getting a chance somewhere,” said Devine. “It was great to have Elle Moore back from injury, although we were still hindered with availability, with Kara Bates, Emma Allen and Robyn McGinnis all unavailable — and they are three key players.
“But the young girls are continuing to step up. To get a competitive total against one of the top teams in the league, we are happy.”
Devine was also quick to pay tribute to Bonds Glen, who now move on to the final.
“All credit to Bonds Glen,” she said. “They are a great side and very rightly deserve their place in this year’s final with the work they have put in over the years. We wish them the best for the occasion.”
While Fox Lodge’s cup reign has ended, Devine’s form remains a major positive. She was typically modest about her own contribution, insisting the platform has been built collectively.
“It’s been nice contributing with the bat for the team, but it’s a team effort,” she said. “Everyone has made it really easy for me to bat the way I want. Elle Moore and Laura Allen showed great support on Sunday, which is key to build on.”
Fox Lodge now turn their attention to the Women’s Plate final in August.
“We just need to stay patient and keep developing our youth girls with enjoyment and no pressure,” Devine added. “It will be a first final of any kind for the majority of the squad, so we are looking forward to that.”
