CL Premiership
Leinster beat Clontarf by 7 wickets.
Rathmines, 6 September.
Clontarf 121 (29.3 overs; D Delany 41, J McNally 34; Saqib Bahadur 4-8, Jai Moondra 3-49)
Leinster 125-3 (27.2 overs; Monil Patel 47, Tom Johnson 24, Gareth Delany 23*)
Saqib took four wickets (Leinster CC)
Leinster set up a final day shoot-out against Pembroke with a convincing seven-wicket victory over a Clontarf side that had started the day at the top of the table. The Castle Avenue side were rocked by the loss of three wickets inside the first ten balls, but recovered initially as David Delany (41) and John McNally (34) added 60 for the fourth wicket. Jai Moondra (3-49) was the bowler who made the early breakthroughs, but it was Saqib Bahadur (4-8) that left Clontarf's innings in tatters as they slumped to 121 all out inside 30 overs. Ben Mitchell went early in the chase, but Monil Patel's 47 (4 fours, 2 sixes) saw him and Tom Johnson (24) steady the ship with a second wicket stand of 78 that all but ensured victory - Gareth Delany (23*) applying the fatal late blows in a surprisingly one-sided affair.
CL Premiership
Pembroke beat Merrion by 2 wickets
Sydney Parade, 6 September.
Merrion 236-8 (50 overs; J Anderson 78, J Forbes 35, S Dijkstra 33, D Forkin 27, A Doheny 25; A Boulton 3-22, G Hoey 2-75)
Pembroke 238-8 (48.3 overs; L Tucker 39, O Riley 36*, P Lawson 35*, J Tector 27, M Cosgrave 25, H Tector 22; S Dijkstra 3-30, T Stanton 2-24, S Stanton 2-73)
Paul Lawson added 69 for the 9th wicket with Ollie Riley (Cricket Leinster)
Pembroke showed the hallmark of champions as they recovered from a seemingly desperate position to keep alive their title hopes with a two-wicket win at home to Merrion. John Anderson's even-time 78 (8 fours) helped his team to 236 for 8 - runs too for Jamie Forbes (35) and Seb Dikstra (33). The Ireland youth international then took three wickets as Pembroke were reduced to 169 for 8. Ollie Riley (36*) and Paul Lawson (35*) then produced a superb 9th wicket stand of 69 that sealed the win in the penultimate over that sets up Monday's winner-takes-all clash with Leinster.
CL Premiership
Phoenix beat Railway Union by 10 wickets.
Phoenix Park, 6 September.
Railway Union 108 (31.3 overs; Ashil Prakash 31; Rory MacColl 5-2, James Maginnis 3-25)
Phoenix 113-0 (10 overs; Eknoor Singh 71*, Shane Getkate 39*)
Phoenix bowling heroes James Maginnis and Rory MacColl (Adam Chester)
Quickest result of the day was at Phoenix Park where the home side steamrollered Railway Union. Ashil Prakash (31) was the sole resistance in a Railway total of just 108 - five wickets for Rory MacColl and three for James Maginnis. The chase was a brutal one as the modest target was knocked off in just 10 overs, Eknoor Singh hit 13 fours and 2 sixes in a 37-ball unbeaten 71, while Shane Getkate was content to play second fiddle, although he was certainly no slouch in making 39 not out from 25 balls ( 6 fours, 1 six) in a game that had end of season written all over it.
CL Championship
North County beat Malahide by 2 wickets.
Balrothery, 6 September.
Malahide 129 (35.2 overs; A Doyle 32, M Langan 28*; Sean Sludds 4-29, Johan George 2-14)
North County 132-8 (33.4 overs; Alan Mathew 33*, Suliman Safi 28; M Frost 2-22, K Donnelly 2-32)
North County ended their season on a high note with a two-wicket win over Malahide in a low-scoring match. Malahide made just 129 with Adam Doyle (32) and Matthew Langan (28*) their main contributors. Sean Sludds took four wickets, while teenager Johan George collected a brace. County found the conditions equally tough in the chase and were indebted to Alan Mathew's 33 not out to get them over the line - Sulieman Safi with 28 too. Mike Frost and Kelvin Donnelly each collected two wickets for Malahide in the losing cause.
CL Championship
Rush lost to Balbriggan by 4 wickets.
Kenure, 6 September.
Rush 84 (20.4 overs; Dylan Lues 5-23, J Hollard 2-31)
Balbriggan 85-6 (14.4 overs; C Rowe 23; Nasir Totakhil 3-39)
There was another low scoring match at Kenure with Balbriggan beating Rush by four wickets. The home side were bundled out for just 84 as Dylan Lues picked up a five-wicket haul, while Jordan Hollard took two scalps. Balbriggan chased down their modest target inside 15 overs, but lost six wickets along the way - three for Nasir Totakhil - in a game that had a distinct end of season feel to proceedings.
CL Championship
The Hills beat Cork County by 65 runs.
The Vineyard, 6 September.
The Hills 168 (49.4 overs; O Horlock 60, Shazil Ahmed 27; Bakhtyar Nabi 4-28, Thorne Prophet 2-21, Mark Adrianatos 2-28)
Cork County 103 (24 overs; Ben Marris 25; Sean McNicholl 4-39, Febin Manoj 3-18, Matthew Weldon 2-5)
Sean McNicholl took four wickets (Baz Grimes)
The Hills ended a season to forget on a rare high note as they beat Cork County by 65 runs at Milverton. Oliver Horlock once again top-scored for the home side, making 60 (7 fours, 1 six) as they made 168 - four wickets for Bakhtyar Nabi. The Munster side's chase never really got going despite an early 25 for Ben Marris (5 fours). Sean McNicholl (4-39), Febin Manoj (3-18), and Matthew Weldon (2-5) doing the damage as they were dismissed for 103.
Balbriggan beat The Hills by 8 wickets.
Jack Harper Ground, 9 August.
The Hills 19 (14 overs; M Hollard 6-6, A Darroch 3-0, S D'Oliveria 1-8)
Balbriggan 20-2 (2.2 overs)
Matthew Hollard took 6 for 6 (Balbriggan CC)
In World War Two, the average age of the US combat soldier was 26. In Vietnam he was 19....In-in-in Vietnam he was 19..So went the lyrics of the Paul Hardcastle number one back in 1985. I suspect it will be hummed around Balbriggan for a week or two as they warmed up for next week's Irish Senior Cup final against Clontarf with a demolition job of The Hills. The Skerries side suffered one of those days when nothing goes right that comes around every decade or so. Matt Hollard took 6 for 6, Andy Darroch 3-0 and Seb De Oliveria 1-8 as The Hills were skittled for just 19 in 14 overs - extras with 7 the top score. The chase lasted just 14 balls, but at least the Hills did manage to take two wickets on an otherwise forgettable day.
Cork County beat Malahide by 6 runs.
Mardyke, 9 August.
Cork County 284-6 (50 overs; M Adrianatos 100, R Undre 88, S Gautam 24; J Martins 2-36, K Donnelly 2-60)
Malahide 278 (50 overs; R Foulkes 84, M Ford 83, J Martins 34; B Nabi 2-28, Z Khan 2-35, R Undre 2-38, T Oelofse 2-53)
Century for Mark Adrianatos (Cork County CC)
Closest game of the day was at The Mardyke where Cork County edged out Malahide by six runs. Mark Adrianatos made a century (8 fours, 3 sixes) as he and Raj Undre 88 (4 fours, 7 sixes) added 144 for the third wicket in a home side total of 284 for 6. Malahide looked on course to chase it down with 80's from Robbie Foulkes and Matt Ford, but just couldn't pull it off.
North County beat Rush by 4 wickets.
Balrothery, 9 August.
Rush 323-4 (A Taniwal 110, F McGee 98*, Nasir Totakhil 40*; A Mathew 2-53)
North County 326-6 (48.2 overs; S Safi 149*, E Richardson 91; J Barnes 2-45, N Totakhil 2-61)
A third wicket stand of 166 between Sulieman Safi and Eddie Richardson propelled North County to an excellent pursuit of 323 to beat Rush at home. Safi made an unbeaten 149 from just 104 balls (15 fours, 7 sixes), while Richardson's even time 91 had 14 fours and one maximum. Abidullah Taniwal had made 110 from only 84 balls (13 fours, 6 sixes) as he and Finn McGee - who made 98 not out - added 172 for the 4th wicket. A day definitely to be a batsman at Inch.

Max O'Dowd: The evolution to a process driven approach
Max O'Dowd is an opening batsman for the Netherlands who has quietly gone about fashioning a strong record across all three formats. He grabbed the headlines earlier this year when he guided the Dutch home in a monstrous chase of 370 against Scotland in an ODI in Dundee. Opening the innings, he made an unbeaten 158 from just 130 balls to take his team to victory with four balls remaining and four wickets in hand.
