Waringstown weren't at their best this season but still managed to collect silverware with a convincing win in the Challenge Cup final against Instonians.

They showed their batting depth on many occasions as they won 11 of their 14 Premiership clashes, finishing second to Inst.

James McCollum was one of six batters to pass 400 runs making 674 at an excellent average of 51.85, hitting ine century and five fifties, as did Adam Dennison on his way to 612 at 38.25.

The Topping brothers were also in the runs with Morgan making 574 at 41 (4 fifties), and Sam scoring 543 at 27.15 (3 fifties).

Greg Thompson made 465 at 42.25 (1 hundred, 4 fifties), while overseas professional Daniel van der Merwe made 429 at 30.64 with a strike rate of 160 (2 fifites).

Tom Mayes pulled the top order out of sticky situations a few times as he made 369 at 41 (1 hundred, 1 fifty), while others to make a half century were Matthew Halliday (194 runs) and Graham Hume (184 runs).

Four of the bowling unit passed 20 wickets with skipper Greg Thompson leading the way as he took 34 wickets at 18.76 - one of two bowlers to have a five-wicket haul.

Fellow spinner Ross Allen collected 32 wickets at 21.00, while Tom Mayes managed 31 wickets at 15.58.

Overseas professional Daniel van der Merwe took 22 wickets at 30.09, but struggled with his radar as he bowled 62 wides and 33 no-balls that contributed to an expensive economy rate of over 7.

James Mitchell's 15 wickets cost almost 40, while James Cameron-Dow (12 at 15.08) was the only other bowler to reach double figures.

Waringstown have already began to plot for 2026 with the signing of Matthew Foster from CSNI and the recruitment of a new overseas professional.

There's no reason to surmise that they won't be at the business end of things when the silverware is distributed in 2026.
