Newbuildings were in the hunt for all the major domestic trophies but injuries took their toll and they had to be content with the Faughan Valley Cup.

That allowed them to qualify for the All-Ireland T20 Cup, but they were well beaten down at the Mardyke by Cork County.

A dropped catch in thr first over of the Senior Cup final set the tone for the contest as they eventually lost out heavily to Donemana, while their league challenge faltered in the home straight.

Peat Salmon had an exceptional all-round season doing the 1000 run/50 wicket double - to achieve one is an excellent effort, so to do both is credit to his superb ability. In total he scored 1200 runs at exactly 60 (4 hundreds, 5 fifties) while also taking 50 wickets at 16.66, which included figures of 7 for 8 against Ardmore.

Jason Dunn was their other centurion as he made 679 at 24,25, while Ryan Hunter had 501 runs at 31.31 before injury struck in the Faughan Valley final win over Brigade.

Ross Dougherty chipped in with 489 runs at 24.45 (4 fifties), while the old firm of Gareth McKeegan and Johnny Thompson made 402 at 19.14 and 343 at 21.44. Gregory McFaul also contributed useful runs making 276 at 15.33 (1 fifty).

In the bowling, behind Salmon was Ross Hunter as the skipper tool 32 wickets at 26.03, while Jason Dunn claimed 28 wickets at 19.00.

Greg McFaul's 21 wickets came at 39.48, while Ryan Hunter and Charlie Downey took 19 wickets each at 21.21 and 40.26. JT managed between various ailments to collect 15 wickets at 23.80.

Newbuildings have already secured the signing of all-rounder Jared Wilson to their ranks and his return will make them amongst the favourites for further silverware in 2026, particularly if Salmon fires again and they keep the bulk of their personnel injury free.
