There was sad news on Thursday with the death of former Irish international and President Stan Mitchell.
The 79-year-old won three caps against the MCC, Netherlands and Scotland in 1974, scoring 124 runs at an average of 20.67.
Stan won league and cup medals with Donemana before moving to Dublin where he was part of the all-counquering Phoenix side that won all before them in Leinster cricket and also won the Irish Senior Cup.
He became President of the Irish Cricket Union in 2005 when Ireland qualifed for the World Cup for the first time.
In recent times he was heavily involved with the Lords Taverners of Ireland.
Condolences to all the Mitchell family circle at this sad time.
