The second leg of the ICC's Men's World Cup Challenge League Group A began today in Jersey with the hosts and Kuwait both recording wins.

Jersey, who were level on eight points with Papua New Guinea after last year's first leg, won the toss and chose to bowl first in their match against Kenya at Farmer's CC. The team that reached the World Cup semi-final in 2003 was no match for the Channel Islanders who bowled them out for just 115.

Josh Lawrenson was the pick of the bowlers with 4-25, with Nick Greenwood taking 3-20. Sachin Bhudia and Rakep Patel were the only Kenyan batters who offered any resistance, scoring 30 and 34 respectively.

Jersey's reply didn't get off to the best start with Nelson Odhiambo removing the top three with just 16 runs on the board, but Zak Tribe (45) and Jonty Jenner (56) put on an unbroken century partnership to secure a seven wicket win in less than half their allocated overs.

In the other match over at Grainville, Kuwait won the toss and chose to bat first against Qatar. A 181 run partnership between Meet Bhavsar and Ali Zaheer provided the bulk of their runs, with Bhavsar scoring 129 and Zaheer falling one short of his century.

After losing two early wickets, the Qatar third wicket pairing of Imal Liyange and Muhammad Tanveer added 69 before the former was out for 54. Tanveer and Muhammad Asim then added another 95 with Tanveer the fourth wicket to fall having scored 61.

Qatar were keeping up with the required rate at this point, but once Muhammad Asim fell for 94 from 70 balls, the chase fell away and they scored 277-9 from their 50 overs, losing by 22 runs.
