DALZELL DELIGHT AS BREADY CAPTURE PREMIERSHIP TITLE

Bready Women were crowned Premiership champions at the weekend despite not being in action. Fox Lodge’s loss at home to Coleraine – who also almost beat Bready last Thursday – meant that Bready could not be caught by the Ballymagorry side.

It’s been a great season for Bready in spite of the poor weather that has dogged the Monday night competition, and their Irish international captain Alana Dalzell paid tribute to her youthful squad.

“I’m delighted to get another league title for Bready again,” said Dalzell, who was captain when they last lifted the trophy in 2023.

“It’s a great achievement for our young squad and has been a real team effort with everyone stepping up when they needed to.

“We have a great group of girls and I’m really excited for the future of the team. We’re now looking forward to our cup final against Fox Lodge next Friday and hope to bring home some more silverware.”

It will be a tough effort for Bready against a Fox Lodge side that seem to reserve their best for the Cup, having reached the final in eight successive years, winning six of them and hooing to deny Bready a magnificent seventh.

The decider will be at Eglinton on Friday August 15th (3pm).
