Fox Lodge beat Coleraine by 21 runs in an entertaining Eric Cooke final at Bonds Glen on Friday night.

Batting first, Fox Lodge opener Ali Doherty continued his good form with 37 (7 fours, 1 six) to lay a decent platform for the Ballymagorry side.

The match-defining partnership came from overseas professional Gayan Maneeshan - who top-scored with a 45-ball unbeaten 95 (8 fours, 7 sixes) - and Jason Milligan 51 (7 fours, 1 six) who added 126 in ten overs in a final total of 225 for 3.

Stephen Hutchinson (2-32) was the best with the ball for Coleraine.

The Bannsiders were unfazed by the big total as opener Patrick Carson went about the chase with relish.

Despite the loss of Craig Averill and Marcus Poskitt cheaply, Carson was undeterred and kept swinging and connecting on his way to 103 from only 43 balls (13 fours, 6 sixes).

He had added 102 in just seven overs with Louren Steenkamp to actually have Coleraine ahead in the game, before their stand was ended by a brilliant running catch by Maneeshan.

Adam Boyd caught a stunner to account for James Panek as the old addage that catches won matches rang true.

Ali Doherty took 4 for 29, while a fired-up Levi Kerr (3-47) got the big wickets of Carson and Steenkamp as Fox Lodge closed out the win in near darkness.

Indeed, given the gloomy conditions at the end it would be prudent that finals should maybe start at 6pm instead of 6.30pm?

Sidney Cooke and Wendy Penny were there to represent the family of former international umpire Eric Cooke after whom the trophy is named.

Patrick Carson pipped Gayan Maneeshan to the Man-of-the-Match accolade.

Skipper Johnny Robinson collected the trophy - he will be hoping to add the Championship trophy to the Ballymagorry cabinet in the coming weeks.
