HAT-TRICK FOR ABAIGH

The Gillespie name has been synonymous with success at Strabane for many generations, and teenager Abaigh Gillespie is the latest from the family making a name for herself at the club.

She has already played youth representative cricket for the North-West and we saw a glimpse of her talent earlier this week when she took a hat-trick for Strabane in their youth game at Killyclooney.

Despite Gillespie’s heroics, Killyclooney won the game by 29 runs in an entertaining contest.

FREDDIE AND THE DREAMERS

There’s only North West representative in the Ireland Under 19 side that’s taking on their Scottish counterparts in an ongoing series in Belfast.

Freddie Ogilby, son of former international Stephen, is actually based in Cheshire, but has played for Bready here in the region.

He made runs in the first game, scoring 40 as he and James West shared an opening stand of 126 as Ireland scored 280, going on to record a 78-run win.

Ireland were five-wicket winners in the second game, lost the third, but still won the series 2-1.
