It took a while, but Cricket Ireland eventually released the draw for the semi-finals of the National Cup on Friday afternoon.
It confirmed in a foot note that Ballyspallen had indeed been ejected from the tournament for fielding an ineligible player.
Although not named, that player was South African Test player Eddie Moore, who scored 142 in their loss to Terenure.
Once Cricket Ireland were made aware of the breach, they informed the Co. Derry club of the decision to throw them out.
Ballyspallen's appeal was rejected, but why Cricket Ireland took until Friday before confirming the last four is anyone's guess.
There had been speculation that while reviewing player registrations, further anomalies had emerged.
Surely in this modern era club lists should be available to view online? And on the subject of modern technology, surely the governing body should be conducting draws in public view and recording them, rather than behind closed doors, giving credence to conspiracy theorists?
Back to the draw, and 2014 winners Carrickfergus have a home draw to County Kerry, while County Galway entertain repreived Terenure.
In the Irish Senior Cup, Balbriggan are home to Lisburn, while Clontarf and Malahide meet in the other tie.
All games will be played on Sunday July 13th.
Cricket Ireland also confiirmed that Bready will host both the Irish Senior and National Cups on the weekend of August 16th and 17th.
