FOX LODGE HUNTING SILVERWARE

It’s a huge weekend of cricket ahead for Fox Lodge who have a cup final on Friday night, followed by a crucial league match against Glendermott.

For skipper Jonny Robinson it’s the chance to lift a trophy above his head, and he has the luxury of being at almost full strength for the decider.

“We’re looking ahead to a big weekend of cricket for the club, starting with Friday night’s T20 Eric Cooke Final against Coleraine at Bonds Glen,” said Robinson.

“We should have close to a full-strength team for this one. Full credit to Aaron Heywood who’s made the effort to return early from Spain to be available. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the lads to compete for some silverware, and the squad is buzzing for the occasion.”

Fox Lodge will be underdogs against Premiership leaders Coleraine, but Robinson is backing his squad, who have one of the most explosive batters in the region.

“We know Coleraine are a strong side and currently in good form, but T20 is a format our players really enjoy, especially TJ Nicholl. He can be destructive at the top of the order when he gets going. Hopefully, we can put in another strong performance and bring the trophy back to Ballymagorry.”

Fox Lodge currently top the Championship, but have Ballyspallen and St Johnston breathing down their necks, while a Glendermott win could reignite their promotion hopes.

“On Saturday, we’re back in league action with a tricky away fixture at The Rectory against Glendermott. It’s always a tough place to go, but we’ve been taking things one game at a time, focusing on doing the basics well and building momentum. We’re hoping to keep that approach going and extend our winning run.

“Availability has been a bit of a challenge this week due to a number of weddings, but that gives a few of our fringe players a chance to step up and stake their claim for a regular spot in the side.”
