This was the Orla Prendergast show, another stand-out performance from the Ireland international extending Dragons lead at the top of the SS20 table and ensuring a fourth straight victory.

She scored 97 of the Dragons’ 153 for four and the fact it took all but seven balls of the Typhoons innings for their batters to pass Prendergast’s total, never mind threaten victory, underlined her dominance.

She played her first false stroke on 71, was missed, a difficult chance on 85 and a more straightforward one on 92.

She needed seven off the last two balls to bring up her hundred but missed the scoop shot from the fifth ball. The next top score was Bella Armstrong’s 25.

Prendergast then took a wicket with her first ball but, like opening partner Alana Dalzell, was asked to bowl only two overs.

Arlene Kelly was denied a wicket in the last over by a dropped catch but a stumping off the last ball of the innings gave her a deserved third wicket for just 13 runs.

Laura Delany finished 41 not out from 39 balls for the Typhoons but this was Orla’s day – again.
