Josh Little has joined Ireland’s ever-growing injury list and been forced to withdraw from the three-match T20 international series against the West Indies that gets underway in Co Tyrone today.

Left-arm speedster Little felt a hamstring in the final one-day international against the West Indies last month and was unable to complete his overs, and after playing two games for Middlesex in the Blast, he has suffered another setback.

“Josh had a niggle at training on Tuesday and pulled up,” skipper Paul Stirling said. “He's going back to England to try to get himself right over there. Graham Hume comes in for him.

“So unfortunately, that’s one more change — it seems to be the order of the day recently.”

Little joins Curtis Campher, Gareth Delany and Craig Young in the treatment room but the good news is all-rounder Mark Adair is back, after missing the ODIs, and is raring to get stuck into a team that has just lost 3-0 to England.

“This is a fresh challenge and we'll get after it,” Adair said. “As teams we match up pretty well and I'm looking forward to getting back out there.

“They’re one of the best teams in the world in my opinion, with some of the most exciting cricketers and are one of the most entertaining sides to watch.

“But hopefully we can do the business.”

Adair has fond memories of Maghermason, having taken four wickets on his first appearance at the Bready ground in 2019, and a total of 18 across six games, while he also smashed 59 runs from 28 balls in his first two innings there for the Boys in Green.

All eyes will be on the skies today and over the weekend because Bready has been dogged by bad weather in the past and Ireland cannot afford to lose any of what amounts to one-third of their sparse summer program.
