It wasn’t fixed (presumably!) but the luck of the draw was certainly in favour of Leinster as all four Irish Cup quarter-finals will take place in the province along with two of the National Cup last eight games.

All six of the remaining Ulster teams must travel south with unbeaten Lisburn facing a trip to Fingal to face five-times Irish Cup champions North County.

Donemana, still unbeaten in the North West must follow up their thrilling last over win at Merrion with a slightly shorter trip to Balbriggan, while Malahide will host CIYMS, the only semi-finalist from last year still in with a chance of making this year’s last four.

There was certain to be at least one all-Leinster tie and it will take place at Castle Avenue between undefeated Clontarf and Pembroke.

In the National Cup, Laois are the only Leinster team drawn away, to Co Galway, while Ballyspallen, last year’s beaten semi-finalists, must travel to Terenure. North West rivals Glendermott face the long trip to Co Kerry and the only surviving NCU side, Carrickfergus, have been drawn away to Adamstown.
