William Porterfield has been named in the Ireland Over 40's team that will play against their English counterparts at High Wycombe next month.

Porterfield captained Ireland 253 times in 310 appearances between 2006-2022, scoring 9507 runs, including no fewer than 18 centuries.

The current Lancashire Batting Coach is one of six former internationals in the side, which is captained by John Anderson.

"It’s fantastic to have someone of William Porterfield’s calibre in the squad," said Anderson, capped 26 times by Ireland.

"He’s been a tremendous servant to Irish cricket, and his presence will no doubt lift the entire team. He's one of four new faces in the squad, alongside Bilal Azahar, Levon Shields and Conor Kelly.

"These games have been a great way to renew old friendships, and forge new ones along the way. It should be another great game and we are all really looking forward to it."

The fixture will take place on Tuesday June 10th at High Wycombe.
