CURRY HOT STUFF AS DONEMANA BEAT KILLYCLOONEY

There would have been a few nerves at the midway point of the Senior Cup clash after hosts Killyclooney posted 246 against rivals Donemana. The Holm faithful needn’t have been too concerned though as Raymond Curry’s brilliant unbeaten 113 got them home with almost 20 overs to spare, sharing century stands with Jamie Huey and Anuj Jotin.

Skipper Gary McClintock was delighted with Curry’s contribution to the win. “Raymond’s ton was class and he’s proved to everyone that he belongs at this level,” said McClintock. There’s no doubt that he is a top, top cricketer. He trains as hard as he plays and it’s paying off for both him and  the cub. He is a great asset to our team and fits in perfectly with us.”

Donemana begin their quest for a second Irish Senior Cup – having won it for the first and only time 25 years ago, beating Limavady at Beechgrove. The draw hasn’t been kind to the Tyrone side, with a trip to the competition’s most successful team with six wins.

“We have a very tough game at Waringstown, but we certainly aren’t going up just for a day out. We are badly hampered by the fact that Andy McBrine isn’t playing because of Ireland duties – they play the West Indies next week.  We will be hoping to give a good account of ourselves up there. We know how good a side they are but also I would say they also know the talent we have in our side so hopefully it makes for a good game of cricket.

“We have got our season off to a great start so there is no reason why we can’t go up there and cause an upset. We have absolutely nothing to lose and it would be great to get a run in the competition and lift the Bob Kerr trophy again.”
